With Pablo out for a while I'm not sure I'd risk playing Tatty in a cup match.
I'd be tempted to play Soucek behind Wilson for this with Tatty on the bench if needed.
The cup is great and all, but our front 2 of Tatty and Pablo have made the most difference to us this season and we've already lost one of them.

Yep, I knew that hence me putting him in my team in the opening post.

I just wanted to see who on here was aware of the rule change.

I still have regular flashbacks of Grimsby - and their free arthur fowler banner - which was also on Valentines Day.
But it was a classic away trip - so bad it was good - and the most west ham thing ever.
Full strength team, dicksy, alvin, cottee, ludo, potts. Im convinced the players stopped in the pub on the way up.

Best fish and chips i had in my life tho'.

Burton are 21st in League 1 ie relegation zone
They need to field a reserve team & take their gate & tv money & disappear into the sunset
Suspect we might put the likes of Bowen (and anyone else struggling on the bench) but it’s not an extra midweek game and we know what a boost beating QPR gave us
Go strong , get it done and hopefully a kind draw when some of the Premier league teams knock each other out … Villa/Newcastle Liverpool/Brighton

Crystal Palace lost to Macclesfield in the last round. These things happen. We should win easily but I wouldn't be surprised if we crash out. This is West Ham we are talking about.
You actually said this is West Ham we are talking about twice ffs, yea it is West Ham we are talking about, well done. You sound like an historian with all your knowledge. I couldn't give a fuck about the past or Crystal fucking Palace, this is the here and now. You won't be surprised if we go out, but I will, so let's agree to disagree.

The earliest I can remember that we lost to a lower league side was Mansfield and then there was the "Blackpool affair."

Since that day we 'outclassed' Kidderminster Harriers by two goals to one in 2022. Needing an added time Declan Rice equaliser to stay in the match and a last gasp Jarrod Bowen winner

Someone said to me last week (non WH fan) that this is a 'banana skin'' I disagreed. For me it's lazy to label a game against any lower opposition as a banana skin. if they were doing well in their respective league, or maybe a championship club, then yes maybe use that term, but in this case I believe it should be a case of getting there and getting the job done. which I'm sure we will. Or am I wrong?

Yes I looked at that but when asked if Traroe was going to play he said " We will see tomorrow how everyone is. "
no mention of being cup tied

Yeah played for Fulham against Middlesborough.

Back in the day two Man U players were granted an exemption from being cup tied because their team had been decimated in the Munich airplane crash.

They've got a whole week off after this game. Its an early K.O. so they'll be home for their tea, and late K.O. next Saturday

The only player who seriously needs a rest is Jarrod.  the rest have all been throwing sickies, benched or arseing around in Morocco for a month. Fernandes and Summerville are sort of vital so we wouldnt want them getting kicked or injured, but otherwise we should be going in strong and putting this game to bed by half time.

Stubbo,
Agreed that the u21's could probably win this as they have won against similar if not better opposition this season. Trouble is the players that will come in to give other's a rest are laible to fuck up or not give the effort.
Our Player's don't really need a rest as they haven't played as many as other teams so we will still need them on the bench. I'm worrried about Kilman and Traore screwing up or thinking they can score a hatlful without helping the team, Traore especially. However we still need him and Kilman to get game time if we should need them,I'd rather not but it'sthe way it is. Nuno will think these two will do a job. Burton no matter where they are will see it as their cup final and go for it from the off.
They do stack the midfield playing 3-4-1-2
Hermandsen needs minutes so i stick by him.

I'd like to see
Hermandsen
KWP Diasai Myers Scarles
Orford Potts Magassa
Traore Wilson Ajala
SUBS
Areola Golambeckis Diuof Kante Bowen Soucek Summerville Landers/Cummins Kilman
Nuno will go more likely
Hemandsen
KWP Kilman Myers Scarles
Potts Magassa Soucek
Traore Wilson Bowen
subs
Areola Mayers Diuof Summerville Taty Kante Orford Fernandes Ajala

I'd be thinking:
Areola

KWP    Golambeckis    Kilman   Scarles

Magassa   Potts (C)

Traore      Pablo       Lamadrid

Wilson
Subs:  All the 'big guns'..., plus Orford, Kante, Ajala

This lot are down the bottom end of League One and our U21s have been giving teams at that level a good going over this season.
Match threads really needn't take a lot of time to post. You choose to include a load of guff that I and I am sure no one else actually reads.

I'm not a fan of MF the Tottenham supporter, but they have a point here.
Others are always welcome to post up the match thread...I just do it to make sure we have one (and can always edit in the 'guff' later SWT)

I wouldn't put it past Sullivan to "let it be known" within the club, with nothing being recorded,  that if they throw the game (to protect his cash flow model) they'll all be "looked after".

Looking at the potential ties for the next round, I rate our chances of proceeding further as "slim to thin".

But I still want us to win, whoever wears the shirt.

I was going to pop into town to watch the game, but then I realised it's Valentine's Day. Absolutely zero chance of sitting and watching the game in peace.
