Nobody said they were beautiful, there are poorer areas but in no way 3rd world.

Detroit is shit, but in no way can it be considered 3rd world - much like the places in the UK you've never been to but found a message board saying 'its a shit hole'.
every western country has areas of crime and poorer people, but absolutely none are 3rd world by any stretch.

Paris,Frankfurt,Rome are all 3rd world shitholes in my recent experience
London has its problems with crime but nothing like most other cities
The three l named have I've seen with my own eyes numerous migrants jacking up openly in the street

health care access
social mobility
high life expectancy

I abhor this government we have in the UK but as a point of clarity, the towns you mentioned haven't turned into festering shitholes since last July. The Tories oversaw the collapse of these places for 14 years. And I know for an absolute FACT that Luton is the same now as it was in the early 00's.
