Flamengo have held with talks with West Ham over a proposed bid in the region of £35m + £5m in add ons for Lucas Paqueta. Sky Sports News understands the bid won't be enough to get the deal done
The thing is we won't get that money in the summer and he ain't gonna save us from relegation,i would happily take £20M, but if the above figures are right then Sullivan deserves relegation.

I read it in David Moyes voice, the PTSD is still strong.

I don't know much about him but his teammate Jack Rudoni would be the perfect replacement for Paqueta.
If I'm not mistaken he is head and shoulders above most of the championship in the same way Bowen was when we signed him.
Hayden Hackney at Boro would be ideal as well but as a club we've never been run that way.
Probably the same reason Charlie Cresswell doesn't fancy us in the current predicament..
All 3 look potential mustardTrouble is, as it was put on YT yesterday, why on earth would a player from Cov or Boro join us now when if they stay they are probably guaranteed premier league football for a season, and they might be back in the championship quick smart if they move. Add to the fact that we'll get told to get fucked by the owners who aren't going to jeopardise their own promotion pushes.
Agree all three would be excellent signings. The kind we should have made and probably could have made in the summer before this car crash of a season started.
You can be sure that Palace for example will probably have an eye on all 3 of them. A couple ending up there wouldn't be a huge surprise

I dont really scour the news but there seems to be zero interest here or in europe for him?
We'll probably cave just to get rid of him. But i can see him ending up in saudi.
There were rumours of Chelsea, Spurs and Villa interest but apparently he just wants to go home.. He started his career there too.

Give it time. My guess is we get about 35-38m in the end.
Club needs to play hardball to stop others just fancying pastures new...."you can go, but we set the price".It all seems a bit foggy but it sounds like we are hardballing. I stand corrected but it's unusual for Brazilian clubs to spend fairly large amounts for players? They are usually selling clubs. They are rolling in cash after the club world cup also.
As per Alan's post below it would be a record buy for Brazilian clubs, so still significant even if they did make some money recently.

I might be wrong Manny but I'm pretty sure Flamengo have been regularly funded by oil money as have their rivals Fluminense over the years

Sport Witness
West Ham United have finally received a formal offer for Lucas Paquetá.It took an extra day, but as anticipated in Brazil, Flamengo now formally submitted their proposal. According to Globo Esporte, the bid stands at £29.9m (€35m) guaranteed, plus £4.3m (€5m) in bonuses. If the full package is triggered, the deal would already rank as the most expensive signing ever made by a Brazilian club. Still it is a step below West Ham’s latest asking price, but it moves the negotiations from talk to paperwork.

Hadn't seen this on the last 3 pages so apologies if this is old news. Admittedly the rumor even states this one has some distance to go, but looks like a half credible approach for Guido. Will Tata Martino do us the favor of taking him off our hands?

That would be an obvious case of the player getting played then...
They must have Sullivans dog eared copy of "The Fine Art of the Football Transfer" from the publishing arm of the Kenneth Bates School of Economic Science from circa 1993

El Scorchio" wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026, 15:19 Yeah at this point, if he's not going to play for us through injury, sulking, or not wanting to get injured and jeopardise his move, then what's the point in holding on to him? We've in essence already lost him but don't have any money for it. No doubt it's just become a point of 'winning or losing' against Flamenco for Sullivan and he's cutting his nose off to spite his face. But again what is the point in keeping a player who is that unhappy? To just say 'I won' one minute thing while it all crashes down around you and the club suffers?
It's pretty low the way Paqueta has gone about this, getting his mates and the other club's chairman involved but just cut your losses and move on. Thanks for that through ball now goodbye. He isn't producing quality enough to make him worth keeping.
I'm willing to bet he just gets sold right at the end of the window so Sullivan conveniently doesn't have to reinvest anything.
I think we're already being prepared for the eventuality of relegation. Paqueta hasn't created or scored enough since he's been here. Bruno G up at Newcastle was the outstanding Brazilian at Lyon. He's a proper player and as reliable as they come.

Re: Winter '25/26 Transfer Rumours Thread
Flamengo don't really have any money, that's the problem reading between the lines, low balling and wanting to spread the payments right out.
