This whole thing has a distinct flavour of 1930s Germany, I'm just waiting for Chamberlain (Starmer) to come back from Germany waving a piece of paper and declaring "peace in our time".
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
Typical Putin apologist drivel, it's inevitable the peace deal the US and Russia propose will involve Putin keeping all the territory he wanted anyway, Ukraine will reject it (why shouldn't they) and the Eu and UK will likely support them.
Don't pretend you're thinking about Ukrainian lives while you fellate Putin and Trump Jaan
Think of those living in these areas.
Actually don't, as it goes against your narrative.
How's that then? what exactly is your narrative in the specifics of this deal? Are you suggesting that the people in those areas are more ethnically Russian therefore should be annexed as they probably welcome it? Like Austria in 1939?
The majority of people who live in these regions don't want to be Ukrainian, and even more so they don't want to be any part of Europe or the EU.
So it does make me laugh when you accuse others of not thinking of the people there and want the war and deaths to continue.
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
Maybe not, if Starmer and the EU fuckwits have their way. They seem convinced Putin not only wants to conquer Europe but also somehow could - so it's better to use Ukraine in 'operation human shield', until the last Ukrainian breathes his or her last breath.
It's horrific to think how much suffering has happened to only settle for a deal worse than the one that was almost agreed in the first few months of the war. All those lives lost from pushing the little guy repeatedly into the bully.

Starmer can fuck off promising British boots on the ground - unless him or his family intend to join up.
Happy to batter the working classes until he needs someone to put their lives at risk.
fuck him.
I agree with you on that one

Looks like we could see the end of the Ukraine war. Sooner the better!
Wonder what changed?

haha, it's even worse than I thought, I see the latest update is the proposed "peace" deal involves the US effectively keeping half of Ukraine's mineral wealth.
Putin and Trump have agreed to carve up Ukraine amongst themselves then. the whole think stank when Ukraine wasn't invited to talks, I wonder why

I am mate.
The orange one (and no, I'm not a hater) seems to be quite happy to fuck off America's allies.
I do wonder how that'll turn out when the old allies realise that siding with the yanks really isn't worth the ag.
Less Chryslers on the streets of London, no bad thing.
As a US tax payer I see things differently.
Fair enough, I respect that.

An American President who's prepared to rim Putin?
You sound cynical mate!

J D Vance is setting the cat amongst the pigeons with his criticism of the Euro Zone and UK policies on immigration and the attack of freedom of speach.
They have a point of course. It’ll be interesting to see how much pressure, if any they apply for change.
Change could be on the horizon.
I was very wrong on Vance, I was thinking Vivek or Gabbard and chosing him was a lost opportunity.
He performed so well in the campaign against hostile interviewers and that was legitimately a good political speech.

They can’t even string a coherent sentence together. Their lack of intelligence and ideological beliefs make them dangerous, and we can thank the wonderful Tories and Labour for allowing large numbers of these people to move in on mass and destabilise society with their dogma and victim mentality, aided and abetted by said parties.

So, Gaza...just a pure thought experiment, how long realistically to make it habitable?
UN numbers estimate 160,000 residential building destroyed, 275,000 severely or partially damaged. 90% of the house stock as best I can tell. Home to 1,800,000 million?
I'd guess all supporting infrastructure is fucked and given the amount of terrorist tunnelling much groundwork will be needed to fix that.
So, the whole place is essentially gone at this point. We still had some areas of London undeveloped after the blitz visible in the 80's.
Rebuilding the place even to the shithole it was, 2 generations at least. No population can survive in those conditions for 50 years, they'll be dead of cholera, typhoid etc long before.
There's no need to forcibly remove anyone, 6 months time when reality hits home anyone with any sense will leave.
If you're Gazan the best case scenario is the US deems all residents equal stakeholders of the land and then negotiates a buy out so they can resettle elsewhere with enough capital to put a roof over their heads and support any family.

IF the apple story is true I suspect they will tell Starmer to fuck off and pull out of the UK. I seem to remember a similar thing happening with whatsapp a few years ago,

Claims of Labour ditching their online safety act over Trumps tariffs. Hopefully the Chagos deal gets scuppered next and Starmer gets a full labour revolt for being such a pointless fanny.
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
If you read Trump's statements in full he makes no mention of them going back, just living in peace in neighbouring countries, while the US will occupy it and turn it into the "Riviera of the Middle East" I suspect perhaps you might have read someone in his staff or one of his less unhinged supporters attempt to walk Trumps statements back do a degree of something not so mental sounding!
I'm sure on his head it sounded good, but he must be barking if he thinks they're willingly going to leave now.
His main political stance is consistently America first and no foreign aid, so why would his plan be to spend billions doing it up, then hand it back to the Palestinians?
they're not doing it for free are they?
there will be lucrative contracts for US businesses in the rebuilding, and then US businesses when the place becomes a functioning destination for people to live/visit.
free or not is a moot point now, he's confirmed in his most recent interview that the Palestinians will not have a right to return, and the US will own it outright
I’ve not seen that. Be good if you could share it.
I’d assume the US would want ownership of some land, either as US property or belonging to US business. Then the land gets sold or rented. If the original occupants are getting a brand new house for free I don’t see the problem. If it’s different to that then I see the issue.
