Running a bit late on this one, but I'll keep it brief.  I've a sneaky feeling we beat Villa.  Not overly impressed by them man for man, they've had an away trip in Europe, and it's a lot of travelling.  Plus with the Bonds memorial pagentry, the whole ground should be up for giving someone a kicking.

A centre back who actually wins challenges and a centre forward who can play more than 45min would be a start.

 

 

I thought both CBs were ok today, our problem is no one is ever in the box so we delay crossing it. We need someone in and fast.

Stats say Paqueta lost the ball 16 times. Villa are strong in midfield, gave him no room and he couldnt cope.  We only have Earthy as an alternative option imho but he disnt even make the bench? Kante’s big but aint on the same level as Earthy technically. Until we hopefully do some transfer business we are stuck with having to start Paqueta it seems? 

Our squad and team is clearly not up to it. Several holes to fill just to get a balanced first 11 out and thats with AFCON removing two of them

Lots of people are wandering around talking about how we’ve improved a bit under Nuno, and we have (because Potter was utterly useless). But it’s not enough. We need to better - quickly - and some very highly paid players need to show they’re worth their salaries and fees.

We had to match them in midfield and play four in their and Wilson missed out, i get that but the subs at the end were pointless and stupid ( I think it shows how weak our bench is). Paqueta gives us very little, always trying to play killer passes that so many times just go nowhere near one of our players. We need to cash in now as long as we get the funds. I thought Ariola's positioning for their third was shocking, he was about a yard outside the 6 yard box, if he stays within 3 yards of the line he'd have saved that. PS the ref was a complete cսnt, we farted on them and he gave fouls, they pushed, shoved and kicked us and we got fuck all.

The ref was fine, did an ok job. 

Can tell you paid £15 for the nosebleed seats.

My biggest concern is this still doesn’t look like a side with fire in its belly often enough. Still too much passive play, watching opponents with the ball - especially at home. In a relegation scrap you need some hard-nosed motherfuckers.

We don’t yet look like the sort of team that will win relegation “six pointers” against the likes of Leeds etc. And we can’t just wait until January to try to change that - we might be adrift by then (remember the Roeder relegation).

I’m not sure we did “play well”. For periods, maybe. But we were too passive too often for my liking.

Villa are a decent side, but you can get after them and I thought we showed them a little too much respect for long (passive) periods.

The game could have gone either way, sure. But we can do more. The fact that we’re still leaking three goals at home is a worry.

Were still deep in the shit this season, and we need more improvement than we’ve seen so far from Nuno. Haven’t won since early Nov now, and Xmas is coming up.

Sounds harsh, but we do need to be a lot better.

Villa without Rogers are a mid table side.

KWP will be ok at RB I think but left side hmmm?  Scarles is simply too slow to play there imo. He’s a midfielder anyway or was? 

Mayers will need to grow up fast and a back 5 seems inevitable.

I can see Harvey Elliott on loan. Dick Emery doesn't seem to fancy him at all but given the chance Sullivan will be all over that. It might be one of the rare occasions that it comes off. We still need a striker, reserve left back (Scarles is a midfielder) and left midfielder/forward and a centre back wouldn't go amiss either. The logistics of getting 4-5 players in a January window is almost unheard of these days so it's not looking good tbh.

We played well, Paqueta shouldn't have given that away. Summerville should have scored then they do. They're very good, some world class shit housing and Taylor obliged granting every fucking appeal the gutless cսnt.

of course, performances have improved as how could it have got worse but we still have a manager that's happy with the opposition imposing its will on us. happy for them to have the ball, and worst of all, happy to sit back and attempt to defend from the back rather than the front. when I was going, I hated redknapp's sides when they started sitting too deep (and that was very rare), so I don't know how the fuck people are paying season after season for this cowardly surrender ball shit

Man City next week is obviously a bit of a 'mare, but the run that follows - Fulham, Brighton h, Wolves, Forest - is much kinder.

Play as we have the last couple of weeks and we'll take plenty of points.

 

 

Think you are right Sweep with a couple of additions in the right areas with that level of commitment we can get some points. We are not the only club losing players to the ACN

Paqueta, he is now the final product to be flogged.
It has helped immensely to get rid of Kilman and Soucek, but it it's not fixed as long as we don't have a striker, a back up winger, a an attacking midfielder.

Competed to an extent against a side in form but you would have thought the penny would have dropped by now, we concede too many goals when we stand off, we can't defend deep, we need to keep the bloody ball as far away from our goal as possible.  Nuno bafffles me, the time for Wilson, if not from the start, was straight after the second equaliser where he should have taken Paqueta off and stuck Wilson on.  He should also have demanded that we attacked the left side of the pitch but we didn't, taking no advantage at all of the two yellow cards on that side,and we were totally ineffective after their winner, that said you may as well leave your attacking players on because what's Guido going to do attacking wise?!  Could do with a Dawson type at the back, we might even score from a corner.  We are in trouble, both full backs now at the Afcon, who we going to replace them with Scarles and KWP?
