Running a bit late on this one, but I'll keep it brief.  I've a sneaky feeling we beat Villa.  Not overly impressed by them man for man, they've had an away trip in Europe, and it's a lot of travelling.  Plus with the Bonds memorial pagentry, the whole ground should be up for giving someone a kicking.

Reckon Nuno reverts to a 4 for this game.   Not sure what's happened to Luis after a nice cameo vs Liverpool   

Predicted Result: Home Win.  West Ham 3 - 1 Aston Villa (Wilson, Bowen, Fernandes)

It will most likely get decided in central midfield. When sides match Villa's intensity in that area, they can neutralise them. It's hard, though, because they have quality in there: Onana, Tielemans, Kamara, McGinn etc. So Magassa, Potts, Fernandes etc will need to be switched on. No passengers.

If we're switched on and physical, then we have a decent chance - even though Villa are flying in the league. I want to see Magassa lay one on McGinn or Tielemans in the first five minutes. Stop those busy feckers buzzing around. If we let Onana bully our midfield, it won't be a match.

Can see us winning this for some reason.

I just hope the negative cսnt doesn't start without a striker and actually plays the MOTM against Man U, Magassa, from the start and doesn't throw away points, yet again, by needlessly subbing attacking players for defenders if we are a goal up.

Think Summerville will start as we need him and Bowen to attack their full backs and keep them back,Cash has scored quite a few goals this season after scoring zilch for years. Reluctantly play Paqueta as a sort of 9 with maybe dropping deep and allowing Fernandes to break through.

Stubbo, that bench is awfully negative but Nuno's seems to like it , We need the youngsters who have consistently played better than some of those there.

Igor,Rodriguez,Fulkrug off in Jan thus we don't want them getting injured and not be able to sell.

Based on past performance, Nuno will be looking to double check that selecting Guido Rodriguez last week was a mistake by repeating it again.

 I hate Aston fookin Villa...always have done.. ...even more than Brum , and by rights it  should be the other way round.
 I have begrudging respect for Brum, but these mugs have always been  the spurs of the midlands, and they still bitter over that league cup Q/F .

The last time we failed to score against this lot at our place was when Sakho and Valencia were playing up front and Villa bored us into a 0-0.

Both sides to score is just as common as Brighton getting a last minute goal against us,

Expecting a score draw on the assumption we don't have key players missing.

This is a thread about a West Ham game, not a Tottenham game.

A pound to anyone who can guess the line-up.

We have progressed, but Villa are a handy little outfit, 0-1 sorry

Villa have built a great squad in the last 3 -4 years while we have largely weakened or struggled to strengthen ours to only having a decent  10 or 11 players, 34 year old central striker etc. 

Creating quality chances and advancing beyond the middle third of the pitch has become a real problem at home although that improves when Summerville plays as he is the one player with pace who can take advantage of counter attacks if, as expected, Villa control the majority of the possession. Summerville cannot finish but does give us the ability to create cgances.  

imho, keeping Rogers quiet will be key. Him and Tielemans make tyem tick and of course they have Mcginn in that midfield too. Its gonna mean Magassa, Potts, Fernandes and Paqueta winning the midfield although not sure Nuno will play all 4? Certainly dint want to see Rodruigez, Soucek or Irvine starting.

Odds are against us as they have real momentum what with 7 straight wins etc. Just hope we can get something

I hope that the pre-match tribute to Sir Billy is worthy and, well, "West Ham". I hope that it raises the roof and that they can hear it, live, in Charlton.

Sadly. I think Villa will have too much, but on such a day, well, there are better things than football match results....aren't there?

They're in great form in touching distance of Arsenal now ha ing come off the back of just beating them. Can't see anything other than a Villa win. It is a funny old game though, so you never know.

Given the occasion you really hope we can win, but it's an incredibly tough ask given current form, quite frankly. They've won their last six, but all in the space of 20 days in which time we've played four.

A draw would probably be a good result.
