Mark Noble's silence

Post Kevinhammer »

Big hammer from Norway here, haven't got someone to discuss this with so I am wondering:
What are peoples opinions on Mark Noble's silence?

Loving the club is hardly a reason for employment. Neither is being a decent bloke.

Jesus. He's not Lord fucking Lucan. Loads of people have met him. Me included. It's no big deal.

If he was at Rice's level he would have moved to a Champions League club like Rice did. He knew his limitations and knew he had it good at West Ham.

Let's get it right.
Never mind being called up for England, no club ever EVER made an offer for him in his entire career. No lower division club ever wanted him on loan, no foreign club thought he could do a job in midfield, nobody ever wanted him. We should have paid him a pittance, he would have had to have signed it. It's easy to be a one-club man when only one club is interested in playing you for your entire life. That's not loyalty.

Bang on. In fact you could say that because he was "'ünsackable" he held us back when we could have replaced him with a better player. I might be a top bloke and loyal hammer but I wouldn't trust myself to play in midfield for us.

By that logic, the players are for playing and the stewards are for stewardship, so why was that sidesweep moron doing trying to act like stadium security when he saw a trespasser on the pitch?
Have you seen how unless the stewards are at the bowl?

From what I understand it was mostly what might be termed 'pastoral'. He talks to and listens to everyone and knows who everyone is. Sounds like nothing but apparently it's appreciated, particularly by the academy players and staff.
So he's nothing more than a secular "club Vicar" then.

Non-jobs for the boys.
My associate who was involved at a high level in the ladies team had Noble on end of a phone and resorted to calling him for help during some tougher times. Noble offered him advice and mediated contact between certain parties to get things resolved.

As others have said, it may seem nothing to you, but for people at the club it obviously means something.

Can’t remember what his overly pompous title is but he is on a good wicket with a job for life
Dont mind him continuing his role from the last couple of years of non playing while in the squad … liaison between manager & players & a support for foreign players settling in
Believe he also works with the underage teams & keeps an eye on developing talent.

Bloke is in a tricky situation. I expect he feels the same as a lot of us but can't really badmouth his employer in public. It's funny how people like he and Potter are criticised for basically not being whistleblowers, yet I think almost all of us in a situation with a cսnt boss doing a terrible job would probably have to just grin and bear it as well like they are and just try and get on with doing their own jobs the best they can and control what they can.

I'd imagine his love for the club and hope of change is why he's there and hasn't just quit and I am sure the money is better than a kick in the cock as well although he probably doesn't really need it. He'll outlast this lot no doubt. But in the meantime what is he supposed to do? Just openly slag off his employers? Like all of us, if he does that, he gets the tin tack instantly then he's just on the outside looking in. Yes it's a lot more emotive for us as it's our football club and it's frustrating to see people not speak out about what losers and failures our chairman and vice chair are, but common sense has to prevail.

I don't agree with some of the criticism of MB. I personally know someone who worked at a high level for the women's team and he always speaks very highly of MB and says he is well respected and does a good job.

But I do get some of the negativity around speaking out. I mean, maybe MB needs to speak out more but on issues that don't come back and bite him.... For example, the 'Run like a Circus' comments and his very frank comments about selling Diangana will forever haunt him. I get that they were instinctive comments - But maybe he needs to learn what is right and wrong to comment on.

Noble is popular and respected by the players and coaching staff in and around the club. The fact that Noble does not have the opinions of some of the extreme idiots on this Board does not mean he’s silent.

Still stealing a living. An average midfielder elevated because he's Mr West Ham...lol

He's not going to say anything controversial as he knows where his bread is buttered.

So does that make Trevor Brooking a stooge too for taking match tickets in the Director's seats?

Have any of you worked for management you couldn't stand? I have. Maybe like me you thought you would still be there when that management  was gone and in the meantime you could make a difference to the lives of the other employees?

What I have heard from inside the club is that he is very popular amongst the playing and non-playing staff and is around most days. Which is in sharp contrast to Brady who is rarely seen although this is a positive.
