I have never understood our fans' loathing of Frank Lampard.  I watched him as a youngster playing for us.  He always gave 100% and performed well while our fans taunted him singing that he was only in the team because of his dad.  Then when the club unceremoniously sacked his dad the fans taunted him because he wanted to leave.  Who could blame him.  He went on to realise his full potential for club and country and now he is performing admirably as a coach for Coventry City who are looking good for promotion.  When he turns up with them at London Stadium, I for one will not be jeering him.  Well played son!

I actually rated Junior highly when he first broke through and got going. I could see the talent (and the gut) he had with the clever well timer ghosted runs in to the box and the like and was gutted that he'd leave. How he acted after he went though changed everything for me how I viewed him.

I was indifferent to Frank Lampard and didn't really get the hate for him, but in a game at Stamford Bridge he changed my mind. He was running from the left toward the edge of the box and scored. He was running towards the corner away from the camera towards the home supporters. The camera came off him for about 4 to 5 seconds and when it came back on him he was near the opposite corner flag in front of the West Ham fans. In other words he must have pulled up turned and deliberately chose to antagonise West Ham fans. I just thought what a cսnt for being so childish. I understand that a few fans used to boo him when he played for us, but there is no excuse for that. He claimed later that he just ended up there in front of our lot by chance. Fucking liar. Contrast that with the conduct of Declan Rice who didn't celebrate when he scored against us at all twice now.

When people on this site talk about immigrants aged 17 to 22, they are "fighting age men". If they're footballers, they're "ill-advised kids".

If they would be tried as adults, they're responsible for their words and their actions and whilst we've all said silly things when we were 20, we had to own them and suffer the consequences.

If there is any profession which allows you to remain an immature child long past the point of credibility then I think football is near the top of the tree.

Frank seemed to lose the weight he was carrying and strip fitter once he moved on to Chelsea although I think I've heard H say no-one worked harder in training (not that I believe a word that spiv says)

Maybe he was determined to ram the stick he got down our throats and use it as a motivational tool.

Who knows but either way I cannot see him turning up here as a the new manager anytime soon as I doubt he would want to come anywhere near the place or fans.

It's the lies about us fans and the club and the badmouthing he couldn't stop doing after leaving. He left with no grace or class whatsoever.

And while it was difficult for him personally his dad and uncle got the tin tack, the professional thing is to just get on with it and not kick off about it. He was a young lad at the time, but still. Got to separate the personal and the professional. Especially given that Redknapp being sacked or leaving/resigning was seemingly by, his own admission, his own fault for being naive about what he said in an interview rather than being particularly done dirty.

I get that and yes he does deserve good credit for his involvement with the Sunderland lad. However that has absolutely no bearing on his actions with us at the time, being two separate issues.

For some reason I never took to him like Rio Cole and Carrick..

I don't know if it was his demeanor or being influenced by others around me slagging him off.

He has been far from complimentary about us since but despite  this and the forklift truck song he still gets nothing like the dogs abuse Ince got.

Although being snapped in the nationals wearing a Man United shirt when your still a West ham player was somewhat incendiary.

To be fair to Ince it was a pretty well known fact that his agent at the time Ambrose Mendy had leaked the photo to the press before the signing was officially announced. It was claimed afterwards that the press jumped the gun and printed it before being given the O.K but like most agents Mendy was a shifty cսnt and would've probably worked to the principle that all publicity is good publicity.

Incey got it far worse than Lampard ever did...by quite some margin!

Ah, the old hide behind the Agent bullshit excuse that Defoe also tried on at the time as well. Sorry, doesn't wash with me and many others.

They are grown men with the ability to agree to doing certain things, be it being decked out in Man Utd full kit wanker mode or slapping in a transfer request less than 24 hours after relegation - as well as stomping your feet getting sent off at Gillingham under Sir Trev because you still aint getting your own way.

They deserve every bit of stick and criticism I'm afraid for mugging our Club off publicly, just as Fat Frank did agreeing to gob off in the Press soon after he left us for a London rival we despise. Especially after it being our Club that helped launch all their young careers through our Academy. They all own that shit and we will never let them forget the disrespect they gave us.

I dont remember him getting any abuse playing for us,, only after he bad mouthed us after leaving (if that happened), and signing for chelsea - one of our favourite rivals.

​​​​While i dont think he got into the team only because of his dad and uncle, i did wonder generally how much circumstance effects the ability to step up to being a professional player - rather than natural ability.  If you grow up in a footballing household where thats your entire focus and you receive the very best coaching and lifestyle choices, and are surrounded by football pretty much from birth - plus a bit of who you know, was Frank always going to make it?

It was a long time ago so I can't remember exactly what he said, but in an interview in which he detailed why Chelsea was a big improvement on West Ham, he praised his uncle and father for their expertise and in the next paragraph explained how unprofessional the setup was, citing bacon sandwiches in the canteen at West Ham as an example.

In a separate interview he said he still looked out for West Ham results in the hope that we had lost.

And yes, whilst with us, he did carry a bit of weight not conducive to elite athletic performance.

I never had any problem with Frank when he was playing, thought he was a good player and turned out to be a terrific one, but he said some silly things after leaving because obviously he didn't like some of the abuse he got, and that only got him more abuse. Felt a bit for his dad as he was obviously a legend of the club although never seems to be elevated to the same height as Billy or Trevor.  Both Ince and Defoe apologised and Jermaine went right up in my estimation with the sad situation with that poor young lad and to be fair he comes across as a decent fella these days. They were all very young though, things get said, silly things get done and a lot of it depends on who is advising you at the time. Can't really blame Frank for buggering off when the club kicks his dad out can you, but he certainly could have handled it better afterwards. Didn't Eyal have a pop about the club after he left? Called it a pub team if I remember rightly. Mind you with Big John. Moncs and Razor about he may have been right!

I think the spitter Diouf as well as Thatcher was another deal kyboshed because of fan pressure. Thing's like that is what sets us apart from fickle cunty Club fanbases.

The real concern for me is, if he does happen to become a decent manager, we’ve become so far removed from what we were in the 90’s and 00’s and so watered down on match days that the new brigade and the next generation would see no issue him being given our job. Gone are the days of stopping the Ben Thatcher signing with enough vitriol at a pre season friendly when he was on trial!

Certain people should never be considered, irrespective of their managerial credentials. Lampard is top of the list. 

Enough evidence to suggest he won’t make it as a top level manager, however.
