Great timing we are staying a protest march tomorrow then. Our once great Club that used to represent so much good is now captured.
Kieran Fox is a Gooner by the way.
Fucking Club is rotten from top to bottom.
LEST WE FORGET
As many of you would have seen there has been a huge outcry that West Ham were not going to wear poppies on their shirts this weekend following a leaked email supposedly from the club.
Believe you me if that had been the case I would have been the first to say how appalling this is. As someone whose is staunchly proud of the achievement of my grandparents and uncles in the war I very much believe in honouring their generation’s sacrifices to enable us to have a better life.
Like everything though social media has twisted the story and painted the club in a bad light. Of course this shouldn’t have happened but there is an explanation.
I have done my research and essentially been told the email was sent out by a recently appointed new member of staff which hasn’t been approved by the club and also doesn’t explain the context of the email.
So I did my research and this is essentially what happened:
The original message was sent out by a West Ham community foundation coach (who’s only been at the foundation for about 2 months) after getting a request from a parent of one of the boys community teams. The parent asked if they could pay to have poppies printed onto the shirts ahead of this weekend fixture.
Because the foundation has about 25 teams It wouldn’t be fair for only one team to have poppies on the shirts unless the parent wanted to pay for the whole foundation, the logistics of collecting 500 kids shirts in, getting printed and getting back to them in time for the games wouldn’t be possible in the time frame,
You also have to add to the fact that the shirts have to last the kids the entirety of the season, stickers/printing often peel off and damage the match kit anyway.
The email was then signed off as “West Ham United” without the blessing of the correct people within the club and would not have been approved if it had been checked.
All the teams will still observe a minutes silence as always before kick off today. I will be at the under 18s game and will be able to check this myself. This is something that has been the routine every year and nothing has changed.
The whole scenario has been created by a new employee making a big mistake which will essentially land himself in very hot water.
Whilst of course this is not an ideal situation when you have the actual context it thankfully doesn’t put the club in as a bad a light without that information.
I am aware that the club will mark remembrance across all levels and that they have been preparing the first team one for some time.
There are a lot of things that need improving at the club but thankfully I believe this isn’t another one to add to the list.

You have to question the motives of those sticking this kind of story out there and also the timing of it
To agitate and hijack the march maybe and turn the narrative into something other than what it is ?
This is all about true West ham fans showing their feelings highlighting the issues that exist and trying to improve things for us and future generations.
We don't need supposedly outraged outsiders getting involved..

If its left to the players to decide, i think you're all going to be disappointed. And they are not going to want division in the team over this.

Again, it should be made compulsory as it was before the change. This is the Clubs decision. They should be leading, not pandering to woke bollocks. What change?
Mate, let's agree to disagree on this one, eh?

Some players in the U21s tonight were not wearing a poppy. As I've said, that's the players choice.
Not neccesarily the decision of the club, because as you say, some players are not wearing one which indicates that others are. So, not dictated by the club.
