"Apart from your anger management issues Vexed, the thing is the promising situation we are now in is down to Moyes, the owners, and the fact we moved from the Boleyn. All the things that many think are wrong with the club are the things that are right with it."

"Swap ""can't"" for ""shouldn't"" and you'd be closer to the original conversation. It was the equivalent of sticking Ben Johnson as our starting CM. But that's a conversation for another thread. This is about our club jizzing another promising situation up the wall be giving a shit manager another contract. You dildo."

The team’s performance is a reflection of Moyes. Bowen Zouma Paqueta Coufal Soucek Emerson Etc etc all signed under Moyes and all key to his success. Tim is already doing a job alongside Moyes. They’re not going to change Moyes role. There’s zero evidence to the contrary.

"""On what’s happening now. On what’s been ‘successful’. And on the preferences of David Moyes & David Sullivan. I’m not hanging on to anything, it’s just common sense and fact based"" -------------------------------------------- So now Moyes record of signings before Steidten was ""successful"" and not as a consequence of Steidten's signings then? And I guess according to you that Steidten is not here to oversee the technical side of the game but is only here to make Moyes dream signings come true then?"

"None of us work with the players or management day to day and rely on rumours and soundbites. We all have opinions, some will say an ex professional's view must be better but as we have seen when it comes to management and and coaching, people from all walks of life and ""lower"" levels of the game can be successful too. So when the majority of fans reach a consensus it suggests that there may be some truth behind what they see? Take for example 2 players, Soucek and Cornet. The former has his value as we saw at Arsenal and other games where we play a certain way. But equally its obvious he is not a very good footballer technically ( control, touch, passing ) and struggles in games where a ""gegenpress"" or similar system is needed or is being played against. Then we have Cornet. A player who was successful at Lyon down the left flank, even as a left wing back. Did pretty well at Burnley then picked up an injury before doing ok again end of that season. He is good technically, pretty fast but a tad on the small side like Benrahma. Then he comes to West Ham for 18 million, looked encouraging early on when first playing wide left but then starts to look injury prone as he picks up a calf injury that keeps him out for most of the season. But comes back late last season and all of this and gets less than 100 minutes across all competitions including against pipe fitters and plumber teams in Europe. Less than 5 minutes in the Premiership. That said, his last cameo he puts in a great ball for us to win a game we needed to win in Europe. Now I'm not saying he's great or the new messiah ( Brian!!) but watching him, he can pass well, move fast etc. Why not try to get him match fit and as an option by giving him some proper minutes ( 20 mins in an EFL or Europa game and some minutes in the Prem?). Especially in light of the AFCON that he is excluded from.? What on earth has he done ( or not done ) to not get a look in. Same with Downes to an extent last season and Kehrer this season. Are they absolutely rubbish in training, leaning against the posts, smoking and drinking on the training pitch or turning up pissed ? Have they called Moyes a c*** or something? Its bewildering and I guess its just Moyes not wanting to play them but no explanation not giving them a chance is madness isnt it? Perhaps he just sees them as sellable to fund January transfers doandesnt want them injured? But if thats the case why do Benny, Fornals and even Johnson get some minutes? Then there is the most successful youth team we've had in decades. Not a look in for any of them aside from Mubamba more recently. Its these kind of bizarre things that prevent a lot of fans warming to Moyes, what appears to be a huge, bloated ego and defensiveness? He's getting some results but it all feels like it could collapse any minute and it feels where we are right now is our ceiling? I do realise results wise its better than its been for most my 60-70 years following the club but feels like it could be more if only Moyes could try something different now and then? He's the living example of the word ""intransigence""."

"Arsenal fired 30 shots, 8 on target. They had 77 touches inside our box you can't sustain that and not lose. He plays the same against Arsenal or Accrington.1 sub because of injury no youths playing when we're winning comfortably or loosing heavily, the bloke can leave yesterday."

Vexed 2:42 Sun Dec 31 I'm not bored by the football as I like to see us win. A trophy is handy too. Seen decades of exciting football where we lose 4-3. Tired of dinosaurs who want us to lump it up quickly to a big bloke at the front. More Moyes is OK with me.

I hope not too. It needs to be a five-year contract. Sanity at last.

“ I’d like to remind you that whatever Moyes is being offered is short of a full manager’s role ” Why do you keep making stuff up?

"Dolf, since you’re letting me do all the running, I’d like to remind you that whatever Moyes is being offered is short of a full manager’s role and salary while Stiedten is Technical Director or whatever job title it is. That is unless Sullivan can’t count his money - are you really ready to argue that? Anyway, that is the sum total of my assessment of the situation right now. Yes, Moyes accepted it before so it’s reasonable to conclude he’ll go along with it for another two and a half seasons. But that assumes he lacks ambition for a full top-flight manager’s role so, until more facts come to light, I’d suggest a parting of ways at the end of the season is still more likely."

"My totally made up view ( well wishful thinking really ) will be Moyes having an input and sometimes making a good case for a player not on Timbo's list ( which is based on data analytics, research via proper scouting as opposed to the old school Moyes looking at players when he's got time or Sullivan's agents calling up ). JWP would be an example. Complements the Moyesball model as a set piece specialist but can also play in a team that tries to keep the ball and works hard off it. But the majority of players you would hope are Steidten and his team of scouts and analysts running past Moyes and Noble to make the case and them basically rubber stamping or making a case for not getting the bloke. Seeing as Steidten will be using data more than the ""golden gut"" assessment, which is somewhat intangible / more subjective, and seeing Steidten's track record last summer, you would hope even Moyes pride and ego would be lowered to give the ok on most of the players? This Tah geezer who was at Leverkusen sounds like a Steidten recommendation that Moyes has given the nod on? We shall see soon if he rolls thru the door and Moyesie can never have enough CBs. Its wide left midfielders, strikers, players with technique and pace he's less convinced by?"

"“ Steidten will be responsible for the Club's overarching player recruitment strategy and scouting department, working closely with Manager David Moyes and Sporting Director Mark Noble.” That’s how it is. It’s not changing. Moyes role won’t change. Pickle and football are strangers to one another."

"Ah ok, cool. Fact: Tim has been hired as technical director. Not fact: Moyes will be offered a contract that allows for no strategic influence. Not fact: Moyes will be offered a contract to select first team and represent the club on match days only. Not fact: Moyes will be offered a lower salary Overall, a perfectly fine viewpoint. But certainly devoid of fact."

"No. The words “we can be sure that” is an invitation to accept something as fact based on other facts, in this case Steidten’s role as Director responsible for transfers. What you need to do now is show my reading of those facts is wrong or accept my invitation . Come on son, it’s called an exchange of views on the facts. You can do it."
