To be fair the French were ambitious to try something different with the opening ceremony taking onto the Seine but were hampered by the weather and the inability of having a rehearsal Not sure people can have complaints about the standard of the sport BBC's coverage has been restricted as dont believe they have access to everything as they couldnt compete financially with Discovery

"We always get raped with decisions in boxing at the olympics, but as the most corrupt sport in the world, shouldn't be surprised when results are fixed at amateur level as well. If that Algerian fella was fighting for Britain, they would have given the Italian the verdict even though she quit last week!"

We've had a few dodgy decisions especially in the boxing and also in the women's Trap where the clay was proved to be hit in the slo mo replay but was judged a miss which cost us another gold. My money's on the French trying to stop us finishing ahead of them in the medal table.

Reminded me of Coe Ovett at the Moscow Olympics only neither of them won. Great race. Rooting for Neita in the 200m.

That 1500 reminded me of the Euro 800m final in 78 when Coe and Ovett probably ran each other into the ground and Olaf Beyer came from nowhere to win the gold and went straight down the tunnel rarely to be seen again!

What a superb run. She handed all the pressure and simply blew them away. Fantastic. And then Mondo Duplantis breaks the pole vault world record just to cap it off. Special mention to the GB track cycling team who look back to the form of old. Amazing from our sprint girls earlier breaking the world record three times in one day. What a superb evening of sport. Fucking love the Olympics.

Only the 10th British woman to win an Athletics gold which puts into perspective. Duplantis breaks his own WR in the Pole Vault.
