Doubt it. There are big gates which I assume they lock  sometime in the first half which segregates that part of the island from the general public and I am assuming they get everyone out before they close them. Maybe if you just hung about in that part or hid behind one of the food trucks until half time or something you’d be able to just stroll in

Seeing that they open up the gates at half time to let people out to get food and have a fag I have wondered whether you could turn up at half time and wander in for free. Anyone know?

I'm a bit disappointed. I fancied going along. I wasn't going to be in the UK, but family stuff has come up and I stupidly thought I could go along and buy a ticket on the door, like the good old days. Shame they don't just open up more of the ground to accommodate more people!?

Was it the lie about us getting better crowds for pre-season friendlies a couple of seasons ago that you found amusing?
The Out Performance Display Cup used to sell out Upton Park every year, so that wasn't a lie and that was the entire stadium so over 30k tickets sold.
Was that a "couple of seasons ago"?
Did you mean 'a kappa of seasons ago'?

Bet the Lille lot will be baffled about coming over on the Eurostar, getting off at St P and then having to walk across the station just to come 7 minutes back in the other direction, on the same track to get off at a station they just passed through, called Stratford International, where you in fact cannot catch an international service from.
It also travels through Ashford International and Ebbsfleet International and doesn't stop at either of those either.
Yup exactly! Crazy really. At least it used to stop at at least one of them, didn't it? I don't think it's ever, ever stopped at Stratford.

Quite a measure of how the club has progressed when the criticism is that we are 'only' getting the equivalent of a full house at the Boleyn for a friendly.

No they weren't.

We would often get about 20k for these friendly games, hence why they have closed off half the stadium.

Lille will bring a lot via Eurostar so there's one quarter of this reduced capacity filled. I'm taking my two kids up for their first ever game, a few thousand people like me buying three tickets is another quarter so there's half the lower tier filled, then you've got those season ticket holders who never miss a home game including friendlies, West Ham supporters who take advantage of the cheaper tickets, non fans who can take their wives to Westfield and watch two decent teams live that they wouldn't usually get to see, and tourists. There are about 32000 tickets for this fixture, it won't be a waste of time as it's the last match before the season, the opposition is good and it's a cheap day out. Easy to see how it has sold out. Would it sell the whole stadium if it was open? No. But there's no need to be so cynical about those of us who are going, and if you'd rather watch non league that's fine, it's only a friendly.

Ferret is right, only the lower half of the stadium is being used. Adult tickets a tenner, kids a fiver and hospitality starting at £39 - they probably could have sold more but for the stadium owners having to fork out more on match day staff.

Duke - the only parts of the upper that are being seated are those associated to the hospitality packages.
