If it was me I’d just say “I take full responsibility for all results, morale and performances.”
I’d answer questions on that basis and if I thought that any responsibility should be held by the board I’d say so, but I can see why as he is running the footballing side.
if there’s rancour in the group I’d say there was and explain that I’m dealing with it. When asked if I was the rancour I’d say “ boom boom”.
Exactly, lock yourself in the shitter, scream various obscenity and break stuff until the rage is gone.
Then compose yourself, apologize to the the Brighton staff, offer to pay for the damages and arrange a nice hamper from F & M for anyone you've inconvenienced.
Then go out and handle the media like an adult.
Potter is either cracking up, or worse, just a prick.

The press don't need to look for a headline. These ones write themselves.

I don't care what he says in press conferences any more, I just want him to keep opening the proceedings by blowing a raspberry.
Still giggle like a child every time I remember that, what an oddball!

I was in the ' give him a window' camp but after Saturday, am beginning to see I was maybe being optimistic. Being ahead with 7 minutes of a game left only to end up losing to a side who hadn't won in 6 was bad enough but the press conference after was pathetic. Don't really know where we go from here, the future looks grim. All I know is I don't care like I used to which to be honest is a fucking relief.

The press are looking for a headline so try & wind managers up
He has just seen his team leading after 89 mins & lose … yet more points thrown away
Can imagine how any of us would react if dragged in front of the press 10 mins after that shit show
Exactly. Need to give the guy a break on this particular incident. He was probably fuming inside and then had to be court-martialled by the press 5 mins later. Poor cսnt.

Is it really that hard?
Decide who your best fit players are. Slot them into their strongest/favoured position. Now who's left? Use them to fill in the gaps. Set up your bench to cover everyone - goalie, left, right, striker and a couple of other options. Bingo.
Presser. Plan your answers in advance, you know what they're going to ask about. it's the same old questions from that fat cսnt moose.
Graham is overthinking it all.

How anyone could have watched that presser, and think he handles it ok because of the loss, fucking hell.
It was an absolute car crash, the actions of a mentally frail man unable to deal with the pressure just 4 months into the job. I said on these very boards a couple of years ago, when some were touting him to be our manager at some point, that he didn't seem to have the mentality, the gumption for a job like ours.
The Brighton fans hate him mainly because of his press conferences, moaning because they were unhappy about not scoring a home goal for about 4 months amongst other things. At Chelsea he fell apart, and was glad when he got pumped due to his mental health, now he is mentally crumbling with us, with no pressure other than to get the team playing well.
Top level management at a big club with a demanding fan base is not for him. He needs to join Leicester, or Southampton, keep out of the limelight and take 5 years to make them decent. We don't have the luxury at West Ham for him to take the time he apparently needs.
He's come into a job that has very little pressure as well, which is even more worrying. He's pretty much come in and been given carte blanche without any repercussions for the first 6 months of his job. If he's crumbling when it's this easy for him, then god knows what will happen next season when we're allowed to judge him properly, if this form continues.

It does come across that he's well out of his depth and mentally weak. And it won't end well for him if he's arguing against journalists.
this isn't new. he was behaving petulantly in press conferences before the transfer deadljne. no need for it, especially for someone so emotionally intelligent

He's just using all this to get out the daily anger, every waking moment, obsessing with Sullivan.
It's beyond obession it's fucking weird at this point. The constant attempts to explore the psyche of a man he's never met nevermind spoken to.
It's like he's got some massively unresolvded homosexual leanings with a penchant for the smaller man but because he (Alf) has never come to terms with being a raging bender his self loathing manifests it's self towards Sullivan and he desire to psychoanalise him is his subconscious telling him to look inwards to find his true self.
Alf, you're gay. It's ok.

Given Sullivan's ineptness he should bin Potter and ask Füllkrug to take the reins. He'd sort the mess out, and quickly!

OK, he got a bit petulant, but the questions are fucking stupid and obvious..... A manager comes in after seeing that loss in that manner and gets asked about his own team's chants. I mean, fuck off.... I would be telling the journo's to shut the fuck up.
Can't agree about the Journos line of questioning. It was very fair and totally relevant. They were doing their job well I thought by asking the poignant questions like Fullkrug/Chants etc throughout the game. If anything Potter created his own narrative by laughably dropping/punishing Fullkrug from the starting line-up that was unjustified considering he did well in the last match.
He said he would have preferred the comments remained in-house of which I agreed with him on, however he also stated he didn't have a lasting issue with him and it was done with. To then bench him for non-footballing reasons and be questioned as to why he did only to blatantly lie pretending it wasn't the reason he dropped him at all, said more about his clueless management than it did about the Journos asking good probing questions.
He can give an honest assessment by making it clear he isn't happy with the result before soon departing home to lick his wounds in private. Even when the Journos tried to give him encouragement about their being some positive work, he shut them down saying he doesn't want to like a big cry baby.

My two penneth FWIW - I do feel some of the criticism of Potter for that press conference is a bit OTT. I mean, come on, you are 2-1 up on the 88th minute and lose 3-2 and shortly after the final whistle you are dragged in front of the press. I am not really sure what people wanted him to say or how to act. He was obviously gutted, fucked off and really not much to say. OK, he got a bit petulant, but the questions are fucking stupid and obvious..... A manager comes in after seeing that loss in that manner and gets asked about his own team's chants. I mean, fuck off.... I would be telling the journo's to shut the fuck up.
If Potter came out in that presser all positive and saying stuff like "We know we need to improve" and "onwards and upwards" everyone would be saying he was blind or disingenuous. He is angry and gets slated and its almost just a no win situation for him.
As for the future, well, is he the right man for us? Doesn't look like it.
Will he turn it around? Maybe but unlikely.
Should he be given a window and up to October to prove himself? Hard to argue for that now.
Is he likely to be here next season? More than likely as Sullivan, once again, won't want to look like a tit.
Has he lost the support? Definitely. So that may be Sullivan's reason to sack him.
Will Sullivan eventually employ the right manager? No.
Well I've seen it mentioned that him finally getting angry after a loss could be a good thing, at least he admitted and understood nobody wanted to here any more positives or clichés! Clutching? Yea of course it is, as bottom line he doesn't look up to the job, but at least he wasn't sitting there with a big silly grin on his face and I don't expect or wish to see that come back.
The other possible positive is that this newly found anger and the continued shit results will see us be less sentimental in the summer with players, but again not sure if that will ultimately make any difference.

I think the problem you had in that press conference was the demeanour in which it was delivered. If eh'd basically said exactly the same thing without the huffing and puffing, the hang dog expression, and a general air of calm....all would be fine.
But he turned up like a sulky toddler who's just had his toys taken away. Very unprofessional and unbefitting.
