Daily Quiz anyone?
"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"6 for me. I should be thrown IN the Tower - I put down Parliament / Palace Of Westminster. Cricket, novelist and computing - didn't have a clue. Odd, isn't it, that quite a few British pubs remain The Cross Keys ( there are TWO near me) when it is a symbol associated with Papism?"

Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
"Tomsdad You are correct, Sheffield FC predates both United and Wednesday and is separate from both. Although arguably gave life or inspiration to both. I wish I had written the original question better then the answer would have definitely been Stoke :("

Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
GeoffP Notts County are the oldest professional club but they are no longer in the EFL. I completely messed up the question so you can have a point! Stoke City Sheffield Utd Notts County can all claim a point.

In fact the question should have read Which football team claims to be the oldest professional side in the EFL being founded in 1863? Stoke City (originally called Stoke Ramblers)

"Tomsdad you are correct in writing the question late last I missed an important word ""professional"". Annoyingly I knew the answer to the Oldest club is Sheffield Utd as I have a son-in-law who is a ""Blade"" and he has regaled me with the fact on many occasion! You and anyone else saying Sheffield Utd score a point."

Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
"Phantom Thames Ironworks FC was founded in 1895 but West Ham Utd was founded in 1900. Which is our ""official"" foundation year. Unlike the Stoke question where Stoke Ramblers became Stoke City through a name change, West ham Utd had a strong connection Thames Ironworks but was officially a new entity. From the Club's Official Site ( not Wikipedia which technically is incorrect in saying we were founded in1895) ""West Ham United rightly have a proud tradition in English football for playing entertaining, attacking football. It is an approach that has thrilled millions since the east London club was formed in 1900, five years after the inception of our forerunners, Thames Ironworks."""
