Daily Quiz anyone?

"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"Well, I'm certainly not getting 15 as can't even decide which 5 are false. Guessing time beyond the 4 or so I know."

"Today's Round ""True or False"" Just simply identify if the following are true or false, however, where you identify a falsehood if you can give the right answer you can claim a bonus point. So 15 points are the maximum points on offer. Good Luck True or False 1.

"SoS I saw on another post you admitted to not being able to do the maths. ;) As for the Beam Engine, the one I saw, was in the Levant Mine a National Trust place in North Cornwall ( A World Heritage Site) well worth a visit if you are in that neck of the woods. Being Thick if not Trevor I couldn't remember who designed the Beam Engine at Levant (the last working example in its original site). Just checked it out and it was Francis Michell circa 1840. Trevithick died 1833 most of his inventions on steam engines were to improve high-pressure vessels which he adapted for road and rail locomotives. His rival James Watt was I think more instrumental in the development of the Cornish Beam Engine, high v low-pressure engines or so I have just read. Not much on TV tonight!"

"I think it's a common enough error SoS. It's the only even prime and oeople just forget. When I first counting in my fingers I started at 3 and then... Oh, 2!"

Or maybe not having looked it up - oh well. Don't have me on your quiz team. Beam engines for sure. they rely on cooling steam and sucking rather than generating steam and blowing.

"Zeb GeoffP and anyone else the derivation to 10. was not required. I was down a Cornish mine last year, can't remember if learnt it there or if I looked it up when I wrote this question last year. Interesting I thought."

8. Though was lucky that I checked notes recently. Likewise to Zeb on 19 to the dozen. Had no idea of derivation.

"6 assuming you don't have to give the derivation of 19 to the dozen. That T20 final will live in my (and no doubt Ben Stokes') mind for a long time. Death bowling almost as bad a Jade Derrnbach, I remember one match where the Windies needed 10 (I think) to win off the last ball and Dernbach promptly bowled a no ball. Sammy then planted the free hit into stands follwed by the final ball to win."
