"Hopefully Trump misses out (are people really so stupid and forgetful as to give this traitor another term?) , Putin's regime implodes, and Ukraine are armed to sustain the carnage until the invaders are never again willing to attempt to expand westwards."

I think that Ukraine could have got much further when it was on a roll in the autumn of 2022 if it had the kit it has now. By 2023 that window of opportunity had closed as the Kremlin occupier was dug in and Ukraine is not about to send its men and kit into a meat grinder. This year is probably going to be much more about the political theatre of operations.

"It was good to see the 2 Russian planes get shot down. Ukraine have claimed it, but I would rather the Russians shot them down themselves. Or even better, they shot each other down. The F16s should arrive before long. Better late than never. Hopefully they don't lead to a let down like the 2023 counter offensive."

"Jaan I saw this earlier online. Very sad, I watched a few of his videos, he was a bit 'out there', but he had a fairly limited audience and has effectively been murdered by the Ukraine and US govts for wrongthink. Bit like Poland is doing to Pablo Gonzalez (no relation)"

"Their attachment to Russia seems to stem from assistance the USSR gave them in a conflict with Pakistan. I think it might be when Bangladesh sought independence, but I haven't looked into it. I point out that Ukraine was also in the USSR and that every former soviet state has chosen to leave when given the opportunity because life under Russian domination was so shit. And as citizens of a former colony, they should understand that desire for independence from a European colonial master."

"If you look in the comments of YouTube or tiktok etc, you see tons of posts promoting the Putin propaganda message. They're easy to spot. Calling you bro and waffling about how the sanctions are useless so we ought tdrop them. Or bullshitting about how hard it was in the Donbas while they were being shelled etc. As to how effective it is, well they seem to have a lot of Indians on their side.. Loads of times I've been accused of blind hatred and lectured about how I know nothing about geopolitics (that's the extent of their argument and I'm meant to accept it)."

The Ukrainian government is under enormous pressure to deliver success as the war exhausts its people. Both the Belgorod attacks and hitting naval assets in Crimea serve this purpose while the Kremlin’s media war answer is to use backer nations’ public opinion to weaken resolve and strengthen opposition to staying the course. This is where spamtrolls like we have on here are deployed. I’d have thought this is totally obvious stuff by now.

"Rio The strategic value of bombing anything in Russia is to bring the Russian people into the war in the same way as Ukrainian civilians are in this war. The idea of Russia bombing civilians for 2 yrs in Ukraine is to bring pressure on the govt to surrender. So why can’t Ukraine have the same ambition to put pressure on the Russian govt? For a sophistaced super power Russia sure do seem to have a lot of “collateral damage” when it comes to killing innocent civilians whilst attacking “military targets” like hotels etc. Not sure why you’d expect a lesser power like Ukraine to not make similar mistakes in Belagrod?? What’s good for the goose etc .. Anyways, war is all about logistics. Disrupting supply lines and destroying equipment instead of soldiers or civilians is pretty much the best way to win. So that’s what Ukraine are trying to do. I don’t think with a gang of f16’s and European missiles it will be easy for Russia to defend Crimea when they land there. The range of some of the western missile systems is immense. I’m not saying it’s easy. But I don’t think russias army have shown themselves to be that great at all. They have lost some very good soldiers. They lost a crew of fighter pilots the other day and Ukraine don’t even fly f16s yet. I think this is going to get very difficult for Russia. There are already a lot of rumors of Putin wanting a ceasefire. That doesn’t sound like someone who thinks they can defeat Ukraine as it stands."

What are the Ruskies actually trying to achieve apart from turning thousands of young Russians into mince meat? Russia should've grabbed the European wide influence it could've had. Instead it got the bow n arrows. Ukraine isn't a bastion of honesty and virtue but they're the one being attacked so it's half expected that even a slippery money grabbing government can mobilise their men to fight. But for what? Russian speaking enclaves? Access to the Black Sea? Still feels a bit like the US are enjoying this safe distance proxy war watching Russian mug itself off at the same time proving Russia will get fucked in a ground war with NATO proper.

"So, if the objective is Crimea (in the South), what was the strategic value of bombing civilians in Belgorod (in the north)? Even if they destroy the Kerch bridge (built in 2018) or the land bridge (established 2022) Russia already supplied Crimea without these before without too much of a problem. Ukraine can not take Crimea with the forces they have, even with F16s or F18s, the planes would last a few months at most before being taken out. The Russian navy has simply been used as a mobile missile platform to date, so not really a strategic threat either. I don't understand why (beyond PR or terrorising the civilian populations) why the Ukrainian armed forces are targetting Russian Naval or civilian assets when it is the Russian land and air forces that are causing all of the problems for them, especially when Ukraine is running out of missiles, artillery, artillery systems, radar, air defence systems and manpower. It seems a complete waste of resource."

"No, invade Crimea by pushing Russian naval defences away and destroying the bridge between Russia and Crimea limiting resupply. Essentially Ukraine need to get behind Kherson and the other southern regions because their are too many landmines to push through from the north. So they have to be able to get into Crimea to solve their problems. I don’t see any other way. They need air support which (f16s) and the threat for Russian navy eliminated (which is what they are doing). Russia can’t go anywhere either as they’ve mined everything above them. So it’s literally a frozen situation for both parties unless Ukraine gets round the back. Also, in what planet is it ok for Russia to fire on Ukraine causing civilian casualties and Ukraine not to fire on Russia causing civilian casualties? What kind of war is that? Sounds ridiculous. The only reason Ukraine never fired on Russia was at the allies insistance as they were worried about nuclear bombs etc. none of which has happened despite threats. If the USA were to pull out I’d imagine Ukraine would say fuck this for a laugh and do as much damage to St Petersburg and Moscow was possible. Might as well have a go if you’re gonna die anyway right?"

Invade Crimea by bombing civilians in Belgorod? Makes about as much sense as anything else.

The way Ukraine keep pushing back that Russian naval fleet is the real story. Ukrainian success depends on invading Crimea. They just keep concentrating on knocking out artillery and supply lines whilst Russia’s tactic (as always) is to scare the civilians in cities so much that it forces Ukraine to give up. I honestly think Russia for all its years fighting people has no real answer for a well armed nato type force. Nothing has gone to plan for them. Nothing. All they can do is try desperately to control their media and the perception of things. If the USA under Trump stop aid it will not stop the problem as Europe will have to take over. The war will not be over until Ukraine can secure Odessa and the southern ports. Which means getting into Crimea. I think once that happens EU/Nato will station in southern Ukraine and Russia can have Donbas.
