"Taking to Twitter, the Italy international wrote: “Dear West Ham. “While my time in London didn’t go the way I had planned, some of my greatest life moments were made here. And for that I’m forever grateful Thank you to the players and staff for making me feel so welcome, and the fans for their continued support. “I will continue to support this fantastic club from home in Italy, and will be keeping in close touch with the lifelong friends I have made whilst in England Thank you for everything, Ciao.”"

I feel he could play no10. Move paqueta back to an 8(? And have Ings at 9. No chance is there?

"Why the fuck would he refuse to play, he's already said he will. Oh and Moyes was playing him last season before he got injured."

"We shouldn’t be letting him go on the cheap. He showed glimpses of what he can do last season, but it wasn’t helped by having to go for an operation. Someone needs to talk to him and reassure him that he has a future here, he’s signed a contract, and the fans like him. He can’t just piss off back to Italy if the cheeky bastards won’t pay the proper price. If he refuses to play, sack him and sue him for breach of contract."

"He won't play under Moyes, and Moyes don't want to play him. As long as the culprit stays, Scamacca has to be sold. But, he shouldn't be sold for less than we payed. If we can't get 45m, then sack Moyes instead and find someone who can get the best out of him."

"We don't need two up to get the best out of him, we just need the whole team further forward so he's not isolated.. Then he'll have more than one to play off him."

How many teams actually play two upfront these days? I can't think of one. You can't have two players without any defensive responsibility.

the one thing I like about Scamaca is that he doesn't need to be in the 6yrd box to score. Which I think is perfect for us given how we dont know how to break through a team that parks the bus against us. I think he should be able to come deeper and play off Mubama this season. I think thats a good pairing. A striker with workmate with a striker that has accuracy and experience.

"fraser 4:55 Thu Jul 27 Cheers good read. He is a passionate, seemingly mercurial and it will be a bit of work to harness that but nothing there again that says he feels he has move away from here to achieve what he wants. Remember the Italian press badly want him back on the cheap when you read other stuff."

"Ings and Scamacca were too slow together today but the latter showed some nice touches during build ups, like for the penalty. He's not a lone, lone striker but if you get some pace close to him, I think he makes some things happen. Like to see him and Bowen together against decent opposition next game."

"threesixty 8:08 Scamacca on the left and quite deep at times, Ings on the right, and Fornals as a false 9 through the middle. Opposition aside it was by far the most involved I have seen either able to get in a game."

"I get why we'd let him leave but I really hope we get rid of Antonio. It's amazing just how shit our striker options have been most seasons in my life time. What is worse now, is it isn't about money. It's about a bang average defensive minded manager that doesn't know how to play good football. Would be cheaper to fuck Moyes and Antonio off than keep binning good attackers off for not playing like a dog chasing a balloon."

Interesting to see how Bowen and Mubama played against Perth. Saw Bowen on the left a lot and seemed to play more as a second striker than he normally does. The two forwards were a lot closer. I didn’t see the 1st half so not sure how scamaca and ings played. I hope it was a similar formation. Maybe Moyes is really trying to adapt?

"Let’s look on the bright side. Whatever the players we have if Moyes doubles down, we’re facing relegation and he’s gone by the end of the year."

"I agree with what a few others are saying here. We either need to reinvent ourselves to be be playing football to Scamacca & Ings strengths, or we need to move him on and find Antonio mk2 who can make things happen in isolation with no real link up play. I don't think Moyes has it in him to adapt or change, one of his defining characteristics is his extreme aversion to it. Whenever the pressures been on his mentality is always to turtle up and double down on his existing approach. I can see Scamacca going to Inter or Juventus and doing just fine there."

Moyes needs to allow our wingers to stay higher up the pitch and not track back in order for Scamaca or Ings to work. The striker needs at least one other wide player level with them at all times. Scamaca is better at hold up play than Antonio is (Antonio even admitted it). It's just he doesn't have the pace/power to turn Prem defenders and beat them 1 on 1. If he knew Bowen or Benny was always level all our attacks would end up 2/3 players in advanced positions. The problem is Moyes thinks defence is about how many people you have back and not actual positioning. He also fails to understand that leaving 2 or 3 players on the half way line removes the amount of opposition players that are in your half. As they have to mark these players in case there's a counter. Parking the bus just invites more attacks and gives you no outlet. And because we do it by default it's easy for teams to just pass it around for a while before we inevitably park the bus and give them even more chances to score. It's a broken system not fit for modern football in my opinion. Only teams with really shit players should set up how we set up. Even if you want to play counter like Leicester did when they won the title they kept 2 up. Vardy/Marhez etc.. You need two committed to the front. Doesn't have to be 2 strikers. Just one of them needs a bit of pace.

Antonio is very quick Scammaca is very slow Broja is very quick and you can see why Moyes wanted him as he is quite like Antonio clearly not as strong but from the games I saw him play he could definitely play that role. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were back in for him now. In fact Chelsea might hold the key to both deals if they get vlhovic juve may want scammaca and broja may be allowed to leave the rent boys. Not sure I’d be happy if he was out front line striker but if we bought him and another I think he’d well be wirth a punt

"One thing that I think is beyond any contention for any proper West Ham fan is that we can no longer rely on the old spine of Fabianski, Ogbonna, Soucek and Antonio. Cresswell can’t be a regular starter either. So these are the replacements to be looking for, and their merit is to be judged on their compatibility with the likes of Scamacca, Paqueta, Bowen and Emerson."

Broja is fast and a good dribbler from what I remember of him so more like Antonio
