"goose, I'd actually be posting with you offended on your behalf if he used the word 'wop' which that total cսnt village park used to use often on here as I cannot stand it....but you always handled it yourself and found a way of showing him up.....using eyetie.....I think Frank was holding back if he was doing it to offend Italians in general.....I just think out all the nicknames for Italians like there is the English this is the tamest and if anything part of how we get to like other nationalities."

No it’s on the Collins dictionary site. I’m never said it was the most offensive. As I said before you’re probably okay using it amongst friends but a stranger would likely find it offensive. Bit like calling Colly a ‘mick’. I said it’s a dumb idea to post a thread with it in the title.

That's on slang definition sites they want to be edgy so everything has to be offensive.....fact is it's the short saying for the word Italians.....petal. I still cannot believe you've been brought up here and think this is one of our most offensive words for Italians....it isn't....

Closest degoraty word for Brits from the wops was this Brittunculi Edit In one of the Vindolanda tablets from Hadrian's Wall the pejorative Latin word Brittunculi (wretched little brits).

goose still hasn't explained a legitimate reason the shortened version of Italian is offensive......what else could Eyetie mean that would be offensive to Italians?

He did. Hardly going to admit that in a press conference is he? He also lied about him calling the police (the hotel did but he did ask them to) and his players being in bed (they weren’t). If memory serves there was a story from some kid saying PDC smashed his phone - that’s how it really started.

"Goose - Seriously there are innocent people dying because of fighting over land which both believe fairy tales written an age ago to be true. Now someone has shortened Italian to eyetie because people are lazy in the way they speak. Like Brit, Aussie etc.. And it's offensive, do"

"Out of interest when today’s game is all finished and everyone’s gone home how many Italians will be in hospital for knife wounds, as it seems every English team that goes to Italy always have some fans being stabbed/slashed. But never mind ad were still classed as the bad men of European football."
