Kalvin Philips Done

West Ham United is delighted to confirm the signing of England midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season. The 28-year-old joins the Hammers from Manchester City and could make his debut in Thursday’s Premier League fixture with AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium.

"I get it, it's clear from your previous post that you think it's immature and cuntish to give a player a hard time even though his attitude could be questioned and that he fingered one of our fans of the back of minor provocation, and that we should all rally around said player. That's fine, there are many of a similar trait who would no doubt agree with you. I also think it's fine for a fan, who most likely travelled up there and is very pissed off, who couldn't resist giving Phillips a piece of his mind when the opportunity arose. Hardly crime of the century was it, he just told a loanee player on huge wages that he is useless, which he absolutely is. In fact, he's an utter fucking disaster."

"Manuel - I’d never want to see raw emotion taken out of football, but some idiot calling him useless once he’s on the bus ain’t exactly that. Like I said, it’s on Moyes because he’s signed a player who looks miles off it for whatever reason. Not playing regularly wouldn’t have helped. Moyes and Philips both looked at the Lingard loan and thought that is what would happen again, but the end result has been the complete opposite."

"simon.s 12:07 Tue Apr 2 Totally disagree. You want to take raw emotion out of football? If this slug had played well he'd be getting plenty of praise, but he's a complete joke so gets told that, fair dues in my book. Aside from the mistakes, he's hardly leaving everything out there, just jogging around most of the time. Northern cսnt deserves all he gets in my book, as does that cսnt Moyes."

"Moyes is an idiot chasing players, lingard phillips now we being linked with onana again all turned us down. Never ends well if they wanted to be here they would jump at the chance straight off. It's like chasing a bird who is not interested even if you get your leg over after the relentless chase their heart will never be in it."

"How the he'll do you post on that site ? This fan is wrong. A subdued call of ""useless "" to go with other fans mainly asking for autographs excitedly to be returned with ""the finger "" doesn't get my sympathy, the complete opposite. Phillips has repeatedly played badly with little desire to improve. We have players like Mubama and Cornet who have played well then ignored for most of the season,Mubama only brought on when the game was over. Ings, who I only think has had a couple of good cameos one of which was he best game to be ignored too for this ""useless "" player. Makes no sense. Phillips shouldn't play or be involved again."

"West Ham fan James Jones… …posted this on BBC Football Siite… I disagree…!!! “ After West Ham threw away a 3-1 lead at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, eventually losing 4-3, most of the talk has been around Kalvin Phillips' disastrous loan spell in east London. His attempt to clear the ball from within his own penalty area inexplicably led to a Newcastle penalty, which Alexander Isak converted to make it 3-2, drastically tipping the momentum back into the Magpies' favour. It felt like there would only be one winner after yet another gaffe involving VAR, and that's exactly what happened. Put simply, it was a piece of officiating that should be used at referee school as an example of how not to officiate. It was one of the most bizarre decisions in Premier League history, which takes some doing given the current state of the supposed 'greatest league in the world.' But it was yet another unfortunate incident for Phillips, who has not been able to use his loan spell to regain the confidence lost since signing for Manchester City. He had spoken publicly about his struggles since moving away from Leeds, so it seemed like a move away from Etihad Stadium was exactly what he needed to get his mojo back. But it's just not happened for him. Within minutes of his debut against Bournemouth, a Kurt Zouma hospital pass led to Phillips being blamed for Dominic Solanke's opener. In the defeat at Nottingham Forest, he picked up two very questionable yellow cards in quick succession to see red. And then the failings of VAR and Premier League officiating has everyone looking in Phillips' direction once again. A video of Phillips making an offensive hand gesture to West Ham fans after Saturday's game is a sad insight into how he feels about things, too. It is quite clear that he's struggling off the pitch, as well as on it. It must be so difficult for him after making a move that he will have hoped would revive his career. Instead, his reputation is in tatters and he's being caught swearing at upset fans. I feel so sorry for him. We all know how good he can be on his day, we've all seen it from his time at Leeds and with England. But perhaps this was the wrong move him, with so much expectation and pressure that comes with playing for a club fighting for a top-seven finish. His performances in claret and blue haven't been good enough, granted, but the abuse sent his way is, in my opinion, unfair. He's clearly struggling and, in a time where we're trying to encourage men to be more open about their mental health, the events during and after Saturday's game are counter-productive to that movement. The best thing for him is for David Moyes to remove him from the spotlight, give him the help he needs behind the scenes and for fans to get off his back.…”"

"He gets more than 5 X the average ANNUAL salary EVERY fucking week. 160,000 per WEEK. 23000 every DAY. Sorry if I have a lack of sympathy for him when someone that's slogged a 12 hour round trip and paid through the nose towards thebcunt's wages tells him he's being shit at his job."

"I think it’s a bit pathetic for a grown man to shout useless to one of your own players getting on a coach. His confidence already seemed shot, this certainly ain’t going to help the cause. I hope fans get behind him the next time he plays, as booing him would be a very cuntish/spurs thing to do. I think collectively we are better than that, in fact I know we are."

Will this support for a loanee go as far as sacrificing a place in Europe next season?

"I know the Manager has to support the player but in this case he's just covering his own failure in signing him and his own back. He's virtually condoning him for his actions when he should be saying he was wrong to react like that. IF Phillips had done nothing then Moyes's point would be valid to certain extent. But again Phillips has been shown to be lazy, asleep and not willing to put the yards in. Did Moyes not see his half hearted dismal effort for the Barnes winner ? It sounds like Moyes is going to play him against Spurs. He shouldn't be anywhere near the squad this week. What does Moyes expect the fans to react like if he does ?"

"This all seems sad. I doubt that he doesn't care or wants to play badly, doesn't add up. It looks like there are emotional or ""mental health"" issues here. It is suggested that Pep used the words ""fat and lazy"" which seemed to cause a bit of a melt down. Pep has used this calling out tactic before to get the best out of both Aguero and Walker who both massively upped their game to be near the best in the world. Phillips appears to have simply crawled into a shell. Coming to us was a massive opportunity for Phillips but he has proven to be too fragile to succeed. It is a ruthless game and Phillips does not have what it takes to handle adversity or the fortitude to take an attitude of ""I will show you"". He might be a nice bloke but so what? He should never wear a West Ham shirt again, he simply doesn't have what it takes. For his own benefit he needs to get away from professional football, he hasn't got the heart."

Great opportunity for those that went to bombard Moyes with the cost of that day out.......being Scottish he may get even more frog eyed at the prices those fine supporters pay out.......for him to just dismiss....

"Not sure how Moyes must feel with this, he refused point blank to take Osman placing all his faith in Philips. a player by his own admission he's chased for three years. I'd imagine he's desperate for at least a half decent game, so he can go to a presser waxing lyrical about how good Philips is and how such a small club like us should be grateful that Moyes managed to persuade Kalvin to dirty his boots playing for us"

"On Kalvin Phillips, who was caught on camera swearing at a fan, David Moyes said: ""Kalvin's a human being and what he needs is support and people to help him, which is what we'll do. ""We need our fans to give all our players the support they require. ""Kalvin's a really good player and I do believe we can still make something out of the time we've got with him here."""
