WHO vs. KUMB

I had a look on KUMB yesterday and was struck by how much more active it is in on there. Multiple West Ham related threads, decent debate and much more activity.
This site remains moribund despite the good work setting up the new site. Seems the owners held out too long before sorting the server issue and the site has suffered as only a handful of active posters remain, many of whom are abusive keyboard warriors who offer nothing but hatred and pettiness.
I'm seriously tempted to bin off this site and switch to KUMB, and I can't be the first. Something needs to be done.

What's pecorino? Utterly disgusting. I love cheese, but that filth takes the widdle. The only time I tried using it instead of parm, it took less than about 15 seconds for me to open the package, start grating it, the stench hitting me, the whole lot getting chucked in the outside bin, and the kitchen windows being opened.

It may have more traffic but I fall into a stupor whenever I go anywhere near KUMB
Pity you didn't fall down a fucking sink hole
Now that’s more like it

It's like Facebook vs. the new X.
Facebook still has a whole lot more active users.

I think you should start your own site.
I mean it can't take more than petty cash surely?
Hammer and Pickle has pretty much made WHO his personal site. And look what impact that has had on active membership. It is mind blowing that the moderators haven't permanently banned him.
So if you had your own site you could have total control over every single post.
Surely that's the dream?

The post ends with the idea that 'something' should be done. I guess the question is what.
If we want better quality of debate, we need people to start those debates...any volunteers to write regularly anyone? We can easily setup some kind of column
Anyone want to do a regular match report/player ratings thread? I had a go at one, but don't see all the games as kids get in the way.
One of the challenges is not so much KUMB frankly, but competing with Reddit and Facebook groups, where there are huge numbers starting threads and discussing the club. Tapping into those forums is really the place to go to boost numbers...although it can be pretty unwelcoming here for newbies...and as above, to get people to come on board and stay we could really do with some higher quality discussion pieces, maybe a return of one or two posters handling the 'View from the Oppo', etc.
Surely we've got enough narcissists and attention seekers there must be some posters that want to start a regular thread/opinion piece about the club, or even some kind of video-blog offering.
With the platform there is a lot we can do...but ultimately it needs content creators to drive the offering to make it saleable to new blood.
Anyone that wants to get involved in any of the above please let myself, Wils, or North Bank know (and of course thanks to those who do offer up regular content threads, like Alan, Coffee, Zico etc).
The simple reason kumb has more users/regular posters and this place doesn’t is because they don’t tolerate the childish name calling. Yes this site is known for it but there is a reason why a lot of ex posters post regularly on there. They have grown up frankly. They can have their view over there and rather than being called a cսnt, people debate it.
They also have very strict rules on their itk (I know but I can guarantee it’s why we honestly lost the two we had. Every time ours posted, people would try and call them out and so they just gave up doing it).
I don’t go to many games anymore but would be happy to interact with other team forums for views from the opposition but the reason that died is because of shit questions being put forward just trying to slag off their team/fans etc.
They also have regular articles which you may not agree with but puts them on newsnow and drives easy traffic. Who was the bloke who used to do that on here? Maybe he would come back?
or maybe it’s too far gone now?

Site traffic is admittedly down, but this site is unquestionably better than KUMB. COYI's torrent of negative, attention-seeking posts would be moderated out of existence on day 1 over there. Given time and space to breathe, this place will find its wings again. We'll have Blagg's Advent calendar in 22 days, and all and sundry will come out for that.

I await with interest to see what kind of gourmet delights you are to present us... especially since the site now supports images.
OK, challenge accepted. This weekend I’ll only be doing one dish as we’re going out tomorrow.

Shall we keep this one on topic, rather than reverting to another thread where we replay the same old tired "banter".

Happy to do a pets thread but I’ll get howled down
Happy to do a cooking thread but it’ll get spammed
Happy to do a religion thread as long as nobody gets nailed to a cross
etc
Ever thought to take a hint?

I think the term you are looking for is "objectively corrected for health and safety"
...since you last tried to poison your reader with enough goat flavour and salt to create an instant artery collapse.

Stubbo, I like your post of 16.44 but the genie is out of the bottle insofar as there being a reasonable debate on here. We know that within a page of responses there will be the usual suspects bickering with one another to the detriment of those that want to debate.
This Board has more or less lost its anarchic humour it used to have and what is left is something boring, repetitive and unimaginative.
Maybe the only thing that could be of help would be a return of the black font facility. Posters would come on here for a laugh back then but we’ve lost all that and need it back.
Well, it is possible to enable Anon posting. Expect it was taken away originally as was being abused. But it is possible.
And as for the bickering...at some point we have to decide of it's got to the point where it annoys the many with no benefit to the few...and shut it down.....too often in my opinion it goes from thread to thread to thread, like some kind of playground feud.

One simple thing, well for most posters, anyway, would be ro append this site name to your signature/details on any other football/West Ham sites you use (I don't so can't).
At least with that, the site name gets spread about a bit without any real significant work needed by posters.
