I’m sure some are aware of Robert Banks’ West Ham History YouTube channel. He’s got to the the 98/99 season with his 20min videos. That was my favourite time as a West Ham fan. Di Canio had just joined, we still had Berkovic and Moncur. Sinclair and Lampard were in great form, Rio was one of best young players in the league and Joe Cole was just coming on the scene. We had characters like Ruddock and Wright too. Well worth a watch for some lovely memories - great away win at Stamford bridge included- it all seemed a lot simpler then…

Remember Harry talking about the day he thought maybe he had gone over the top on foreign signings.  Think it was a freezing windy wet day up at Sunderland or similar and he said something along the lines of Futre, Dumitrescu and Răducioiu were all just standing up front, hands on hips, whilst the rest were defending for their lives.  Some great days with some disasters under Harry, typical West Ham.  Terry Brown finding 5 million in his pocket to buy Hartson and Kitson when oiriginally saying there was no money.  That windswept Spurs game was classic with Hartson battering Campbell to bits.

I know something iffy obviosuly went on between him and Bonzo but considering they were such big mates for years I think it's a shame.  Lifes too short.

 

I loved Redknapp as our manager but I also enjoyed the football at Pompey and Spurs when he managed them.

My favourite era,  had some great players and characters.

Definitely my favourite time to be a Hammer was going every home game and most away games. Was a certain age where I had only my dick to keep. Most of my money was mine. Great, great times. Always look back at those years with fondness. We had a generally good teams throughout with some real cult heroes. The club then was as insane as it is now but in a more enjoyable way.

Surprised that resident bumboys Miike and Gank are not all over this thread dewy-eyed about Redknapp leading us to Intertoto glory in 99.

Bare Bones he'd baing banging out now.

I remember on here everyone was baying for his blood. The general feeling was that then the team was not playing as well as it should if you summed up the parts. It was a great squad and should have done better. 

Expecations were high for a high profile replacement and we ended up with Roeder.
