Well it's a fast turnaround for this one.  After a hard fought, but somewhat disappointing point at Old Trafford, we head to the south coast for an arguably more difficult looking game on paper.

Brighton have been a bogey side since they arrived in the division, as well as being the envy of many fans for their progressive owner and stellar recruitment model.

Teamwise, Nuno gets to 'bring' Paqueta back (I won't use the term 'welcome'), and the messaging around Summerville remains opaque at best.  Plus as to what happened to Guilherme who knows, but with both him and Igor missing we went from a squad of 3 Braziliians to none versus Man Utd in one fell swoop.

This leaves at least a decision around Soucek, but if Summerville (or Guilherme) were to be available, another decision around 2 of 3 from Fernandes, Magassa, and Potts.

Predicted Lineup

I'm working on the basis that Paqueta will come back in, and Summerville will at best be fit for the bench:
Areola

Wan Bissaka  Mavropanos  Todibo  Diouf

Magassa  Potts

Bowen   Paqueta   Fernandes

Wilson

Subs:  Hermansen, Kilman, KWP, Irving, Kante, Earthy, Guilherme, Summerville, Marshall
Predicted Score:  Brighton 2 - 1 West Ham

Brighton remain high up in the current form table, scoring twice as many as they concede.  West Ham are midtable over the last 5 games, are at a scoring ratio of roughly 1:1.

Hard to see anything but a defeat here, but we have a punchers chance (all be it, the blows themselves are fairly lightweight and will need to find the Brighton chin with surgical precision to knock them out).

Nuno had a great game plan that was coming off, but yet again went too negative at the end.

Really odd decision with that hand ball. If he doesn’t handle it he doesn’t score, he’s controlled it with his arm, we can all say/claim it’s accidental when it suits, I’m saying his arms there for a reason.

Same as in the week, you woukd probably take a point before the game but losing 2 points at the death with that  decision just makes it feel like a loss.

We are not clinical enough and havent been for a long while. Relying on Bowen far too much.

Fvcking handball in any era of football in the lead up to their goal.  Beggars belief.

Fucking bullshit decision. He literally controlled the ball with his arm.

We sat back way too much after our goal though. Invited them on to us.

It’s just a completely flawed logic behind the handball rule. Might as well have let the initial shot in as then it’s disallowed. How can it then not be handball when the goal comes from the same exact piece of play. It’s just complete nonsense.

I also reckon if a defender handballed it like that, it would be given genuine scrutiny for a penalty.

There has to be a stewards on these clowns in the VAR room. There is no consistency in any of it.
The officials are paid to get results that the bookies want

it’s been blatant for years

Every manager in the league pretty much would do the same thing.

Not to that extent they wouldn't.

Did they change the rules again? I thought any goal where the ball hit someone’s hand they were not given. Accidental or not.

The FA just make it up as they go.

Agreed.

The handball rule is perfect for them though as they get to decide how they want to rule these things. Grey enough to choose what ever they want.
