Re: Potter Out
Is there any reason for Sullivan to keep Potter other than not wanting to look like a dick in hiring him?
Is the compensation that much? Is it worth getting relegated for?
I think if West Ham keep him I’m sure it would be a record. I can’t imagine any club has kept someone on with such a low win ratio in the same circumstances. This guy has had a fucking transfer window and 6 months.
It’s mental. Truly psychotic behaviour to be backing Potter. There’s just no logic to it. What is anyone seeing in this situation that warrants it continuing?

Then stop behaving like little Spurs cunts and get behind our manager Graham Potter.I’m convinced this cսnt doesn’t actually follow football.
Ferret, I think you are a grade A prick, but on this matter we absolutely have some common ground.

OK....
Will Still - 43% win ratio
Alan Partridge - 22% win ratio
Lens respectably 8th with a chance of still getting as high as 6th in his debut season, whereas we are in a worse position than when Potter took over that could end up just above the relegation zone if we lose away to Ipswich.
So cheers for reaffirming some of our beliefs that Potter is fucking useless and that Still would be a better option than our turnip of a manager.
Nice work there, Mr. Attack

How does his record at Lens compare with Potter at West Ham?
Re: Potter Out
I know I keep saying it, but it really doesn't matter who the manager is. He has to be Sullivan's man or he wouldn't be in the job. I'd prefer Still but his new methods would have his boss baulking and hovering over the nuke button every time we lose.

Re: Potter Out
I'd definitely take Still over Potter, if that's the very best we could possibly aim for now and I like Still but Christ almighty..

Southampton are sniffing round him…let’s go and get him in.
If possible and if he would come I would like us to try and pinch the palace manager.

On top of which, no matter what the score against Ipswich next week, Potter can’t match Lopetegui’s pathetic 1.15 points per game that got him sacked

Re: Potter Out
Unable to work out that last weeks team selection was more down to how bad Man Utd were, rather than the likes of Ward-Prowse and Rodriguez being any good.
Turning a blind eye to the problems trying to play the ball out from the back was causing before we gifted them a goal
And then suddenly seeing us create some chances and become competitive in a match once some attacking players are introduced
These are issues that Potter is causing himself

Re: Potter Out
GK is the last of our worries. Aereola is decent.
The issue is that our outfield defenders need to minimise the shots he has to face. One of the reasons all this sweeper keeper stuff is so fashionable is that it's really not relying on the keeper at all to save lots of shots because the defensive setup has to be so good other teams rarely get a chance anyways. So then the keeper is free to push up an act as another defender for lots of the game.
So in reality a ball playing GK only works with a well drilled defensive setup and doesn't in itself actually make your defence better. I think we can see with Onana at Man Utd how a keeper who was known for playing out with the ball looks far worse than he should do because Man U's outfield defensive play is so poor.

Re: Potter Out
With Potter’s “controlled possession” approach or tactics, the keeper is key to being able to probe for openings thru and around the opposition press especially if, like a lot of teams in the Premier League, they press high. It is expected that the ball will be pinged around side to side, back and forth ( whether that is good to watch is another discussion ) and if done well and at pace, gets around or thru the press and released to the forwards to run into space. A goalkeeper in that system needs to be a very good footballer, not just a great shot stopper and great aerially, with instant control and the ability to move his feet quickly, then play short, medium and long range passes accurately to feet.
Areola is not that man and will limit the effectiveness of Potter’s system but with other higher priorities ( central midfield and centre forward ) may well be the number 1 for another season. All imho of course
