"“This could have been resolved quickly with hundreds of thousands of lives not wasted.” OK, let’s see what happens when we discuss this by looking at the facts like adults. After NATO and the EU expanded to include most of the former Soviet Union’s European vassal states, Putin responded with a chilling message delivered in Munich in 2007. He declared Russia would never accept the kind of world order where its neighbours just went about their own affairs as they pleased and would never allow its former sphere of influence to be questioned. The collapse of the Soviet Union had been a disaster of historical proportions and he would do everything possible to rebuild its great power, imperial status. At the time I remember thinking NATO would have to bolster Poland and the Baltics while Ukraine’s aspirations to join would have to be met more quickly if we were to avoid war. I also thought the Kremlin’s propaganda machine would mobilise its resources in the West to hamper the political processes in response to the new threat. And of course I was not wrong, and now, tragically, we have this war. To a great extent, many in Germany, UK and US believed Putin could be accommodated and eventually civilised and the path of resolute confrontation with the imperialistically bent dictator was never a popular one. So here we are today, but hopefully lessons have been learnt and minds in the Senate will be more focused."

"Capitol Man 4:45 Sat Dec 9 I simply want a peaceful resolution as I have repeatedly said from the beginning. This could have been resolved quickly with hundreds of thousands of lives not wasted. I don’t think any NATO country is under threat from Russia or China, and it’s a pitiful excuse for urging Ukraine to an ever worsening fate."

"Kenneth thinks he’s getting one over on all the cool, open-minded, secure people who have something to contribute in civil society. He’s never going to make the grade as he’s pretty shit at everything so at least he can make believe that he comes out on top by spreading Kremlin disinformation to disorientate and demoralise. But though times are hard and the enemy is ready to send hundreds to their deaths as cannon fodder on a daily basis, Ukraine’s struggle is still an inspiration for all who value freedom from state coercion, personal autonomy and professional merit. And Kenneth here absolutely hates that."

"Jaan Kenbrovin 2:12 Sat Dec 9 Re: The war in Ukraine Reading stuff like that must give you joy slops. What are you hoping for - win for Putin. Europe, including UK, dominated by Putin, Xi in ascendency in Asia, Trump flushing America down the toilet? All so you can what, freely tell a few racist jokes or not feel like such a fucking loser?"

"'Zelensky and Putin are 2 cheeks of the same arse' Of which Biden is the hoop. The German magazine Spiegel writes that Zelensky fears the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, whom he calls the “Ukrainian Eisenhower.” According to the author of the article, a “chilling atmosphere reigns” at meetings at headquarters, and “poisonous jokes” are constantly made about Zaluzhny about the unsuccessful counter-offensive. Zelensky asks something like: “Well, are we advancing heroically - with a new retreat of 200 meters?”, and Valery is silent, full of indignation, - this is how one of the eyewitnesses describes the situation in an interview with the publication."

"‚ÄúAt some point, we will no longer be any different from Russia, where everything depends on the whims of one man,‚Äù said Klitschko, a former professional boxer believed to have presidential ambitions. ‚ÄúPeople wonder why we weren‚Äôt better prepared for this war, why Zelenskyy denied until the last moment that it would come‚Äâ.‚Äâ.‚Äâ.‚Äâor [how] the Russians could get to Kyiv so quickly,‚Äù he added, echoing public sentiments discussed almost exclusively in private since February 2022. Zelenskyy reignited another feud on Saturday by banning his predecessor and political foe Petro Poroshenko from leaving the country for a series of meetings, including with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb?°n. Ukraine‚Äôs security service, the SBU, said it had advised parliament to rescind permission for Poroshenko‚Äôs trip after it became aware of the Orb?°n meeting. The agency claimed that Russian intelligence was planning to use the meeting for its own propaganda purposes and to sow discord in Kyiv. Poroshenko, who is an MP and leader of the opposition European Solidarity party, said he wanted to try to convince Orb?°n ‚Äî a staunch Ukraine sceptic ‚Äî to support the country‚Äôs accession to the EU. Poroshenko said the decision to bar him from exiting the country was ‚Äúsenseless, baseless and it discredits not only the opposition but also democracy in Ukraine‚Äù. https://archive.ph/1kNhH"

"...""I might just remind site admin that this is supposed to be an anonymous site""... If you've voluntarily revealed your real-life persona on here then you, quite rightly, lose any claim to anonymity and most certainly the right to choose who can and cannot use the information you freely provided (see Under-age Cambodian cripple-fucker for more details). The site admin is likely to side with everybody else and note that you bring the whole shit-show upon yourself, with no outside encouragement and ONLY you have the power to change the way it is. That may well be a ""populist"", 52% stance but them's the eggs in the real world. ...""I’ll come back when you get bored and it’s possible to have a civilised conversation again around here.""... You will NEVER leave. YOU are totally addicted to the site. You may stop posting but you'll still be reading and absorbing absolutely everything posted up on here in case you miss out on something."
