Would you offer Moyes a new contract?

"With David Moyes contract finishing at the end of the season and we fast approach the half way stage of the season, would you offer Moyes a new contract? (Might be worth doing as a WHO Poll). I personally wouldn’t, interesting to see Potter as huge favourite for our next manager and him turning down other roles (although could be waiting for England). Note Alonso sitting in the second favourite."

"Nagel 1:15 Wed Oct 18 What has happened to Leicester since then? Where are they now? Chelsea have had on average a new manager every year since then. Currently bottom half of the table. Oh, how I wish we'd follow these 2 examples, hahahaha! Got anythijg better?"

Nope. I don't think so. We need to modernise our approach and holistic club strategygoing forward.

"Changing manager isn’t as simple as many think. It’s all the coaching staff that mostly need changing for the new manager too. Yes Willtell, thanks because NOBODY else knew this, please keep us informed."

"Changing manager isn’t as simple as many think. It’s all the coaching staff that mostly need changing for the new manager too. The whole club atmosphere and camaraderie could change for the worse. Some players will not be accepted by a new coach too. I think that if Moyes finishes top 7 and wins a cup or comes very close, it would be a mistake to change direction. Unless of course there’s going to be much more investment and a thrust for top4. At the moment I reckon Moyes will have a good shout at a new contract. If he loses his way like last PL season, even someone like Mourinho could come into play as he will be leaving Roma apparently…."

"twoleftfeet 1:25 Wed Oct 18 Now that surprised me...and pleased me. You are spot on. The key here is to move him on with respect and gratitude and let the new model flourish, there's no crisis so there's no need to knee jerk."

"The better question to ask is who, us fans that is, we think should Moyes be replaced with. We probably missed the trick by not seeking to bring in Howe or Emery when they were available. Pulling a relative unknown from abroad, especially with no EPL experience, carries a huge risk and fails more than it succeeds. What strikes me about our owners is not only do they not knee jerk they also don’t seem to have a next manager on the back burner so to speak."

"SnarestoneIron 12:17 Wed Oct 18 That's a proper small time mentality that, and it shouldn't be like that for a club playing in a 60k+ stadium and spending £400m+ on players in 3-4 years. Chelsea sacked di Matteo just a few months after winning them the Champions League for the first time in their history. Leicester done the same to Ranieri a few months after winning the Premier League! But we should continue to suffer the shit football we get under Moyes for a few more years because in between relegation battles he finished 6th and 7th and won a minor European trophy which we were 2nd favourites for before it even began?"

"I think that Sullivan will offer Moyes a new two year contract. Would I, no. As others have said, any half decent manager should be able to get our squad of players playing at a decent level. I would rather go at it in games and take it to the opposition and not sit back every time we go 1-0 up. It's not as if Moyes's tactics work in any case as the two 1-3 against City and Liverpool show. Would rather win (or lose) 5-4 than 1-0 every week. I won't lose any sleep if he is offered a new contract though."

Imagine if another club sacked a manager that had got them into Europe 3 years in a row and won a European trophy. The shit we'd give them would be off the scale!

"bigfrank 4:23 Tue Oct 17 Moyes is arguably getting the best out of Paqueta already? What’s to say he won’t Kudos? It took Paqueta a while to settle in, he’s now playing that well City want him. I wouldn’t mind betting Kudos will be starting regular inside a month."

"No but I would keep him onside and with good short term performance based re-numeration package. He might not be our future, but he won us a trophy and is fine for our present."

At the moment I would say no With the arrival of Tim it feels like we need more of a great coach than a great manager so Potter would be worth a look IMO. Alonso will be going to Real Madrid unfortunately

I have no idea how these contracts are put together but what I do know is that outside of the 'mickey mouse' football world and in private industry we all have to perform and have our performance analsed on a bi-annual or annual basis. Surely we can do the same with Moyes. Top ten minimum please and the minute we're out of that zone then you're in danger. It's not that hard surely.

"He won't be getting a new contract anytime soon, but all the indications are that we are going to have a decent season, and that is very likely to equal a new contract. But many variables at play, including a big drop off in form, possible new owners, and an outside chance that Moyes has had enough himself, but that's unlikely. If you are Sullivan you couldn't really blame him for keeping Moyes if things are going well, hiring and firing is a hassle, you are starting over and there are no guarantees of anything either."

"There's no way Alonso is coming here. I wouldn't want Potter either. Moyes will probably get a new contract as soon as we're safe - as others have said, Sullivan will see him as ""steady"" and he won't go after de Zerbi or other working managers. Who, besides Potter, is out of work? Because that's the list to look at if Moyes isn't offered another contract..."

"Xabi Alonso signed a new contract at Leverkusen recently, he is also seen as the next best thing in football management and with his current side top of the Bundesliga that's only going to get enhanced. Already Rumors of him being top of the list of replacements when needs be for both Liverpool and Real Madrid, both of whom he played for. Because he is mates with the Scarf botherer means very little in the scale of things, we would be a move sideways rather than up as well, so he is a long shot IMO. As to Moyes, hope we leave it until at least the new year, hopefully last season was just a hiccup when it came to the PL, im not against him getting another year or 2 if this season carry's on the way it is so far, a Cup would be nice as well though and a top 5 finish both right now look achievable, been a big swing from this time last year as well. COYI"

"If it isn't Moyes, I think Xabi Alonso must be target no1 Won a a player in PL and Europe, performed well at BL and strong relationship with TS... I think people would want to play for him and move to us and players like Paqueta would be maximised"

"I don't think that Sullivan would feel like there's any need to offer a new contract at Xmas. Remember Fat Sam's last season with us? We were 4th at Xmas and finished in 12th place. That alone should have made him realise that there's no good reason to offer contracts early, even if things are going well, especially when there's no competition for the manager's services. In any case Sullivan said a few months back that Moyes' contract situation will be looked at when it runs out, not before: 'We believe in honouring contracts. David has a contract with us until next summer and next summer we'll look at it again. Until then, if he wants to remain as manager then he will remain as manager of West Ham.'"

"The board stuck with Moyes when we were poor so any better than that means he has a good chance depending on the nature of the deal. The risk they have is losing him and not getting who they want, assuming they have a replacement in mind."

Unless we pick up some silverware or qualify for the Champion League Moyes ain't getting a new contract. I'm sure Tim will have it covered.

"claypole 5:04 Tue Oct 17 No chance Sullivan will sack Moyes as he is delivering everything Sullivan wants mainly Premier league TV money so I expect he will get a new contract. Sullivan sat on his hands and was prepared to get relegated wifh Moyes when we were bottom three and looked certs for the drop and Moyes was going to do a Sunderland on us. The man can do no wrong. The other massive issue is that Sullivan doesn't do paying up new managers contracts. Sullivan only takes new managers out of contract. IF Moyes has a stinker second half of season then Potter could get a call as out of contract, not sure if he is the answer?"
