Yes, it is the thread you have all been waiting for. The mighty COO go once again in 2024/2025 and I am going to stick my neck out and say that the COO will walk the league this season and win it by a record margin with a record points haul.

After some consolidation in recent seasons the whispers coming out from the staff, players, manager, executives and fans is one of absolute confidence which is refreshing to see and hear.

Nothing will stop us this season, and I don’t even want to hear about the scum from Kelty Hearts, they mean NOTHING to us.

MATCH PREVIEW - GREENOCK

September is very much a cup month for us and we kick off our games with a visit from Championship side Greenock Morton in Round Three of the SPFL Trust Trophy with a 3pm kick off.

To reach this stage we have beaten Kilmarnock B 4-2 and Albion Rovers 4-3.

THE OPPOSITION

We have twice played Morton in the SPFL Trust Trophy which began life as the SFL Centenary Cup in 1990.

Our first meeting was in that season when we won 8-7 on penalties in the Second Round at Cappielow after a goal less draw.

Our only other meeting came in 2006 when we lost 3-2 in a game also played at Cappielow with the Ton scoring three goals in the opening 16 minutes through Scott McLaughlin, Paul McGowan and Chris Millar.

Mixu Paatelainen’s side battled back in the second half with both Pat Clarke and Martyn Fotheringham scoring past future Cowden keeper David McGurn but a third goal proved to be elusive. Coach Gary Fusco, who recently signed a contract as a player after being on the bench as a trialist in most of our Park’s Motor Group Lowland League games this season, was on the bench that night replacing Pat Scullion late in the game.

8 games in and only once have the COO lost by a margin of more than 2 goals.

joint 11th top scorers in the entire league.

a win in the next league game could propel the COO to 10th in the league and only ten points off top place and a promotion play~off spot.

would just need a goal from Jack DENHAM now to put the cherry on the icing of the cake, with such a promising start to the season.

let’s hope Saturday’s cup game doesn’t go to their heads.

Our goal difference is the third best in the bottom half of the table, so that's something to build on.
