Don’t shoot the messenger as still TBC. Supposedly Antonio has had a crash in his Ferrari in Loughton, sounds fairly bad

Suspect as with Ogbonna the club might give him a year's extension to support him through recovery on a slightly lower wage...just a hunch though.
Wouldn't be opposed to that...he's done plenty for the club, even if seemingly a bit of a billy big time since he went up top.
Anything that helps him get over this disaster the club should do all they can to help.

Contract was up in his final year this season, so would imagine the Club 'should' pay up the rest of this half a season to him out of good faith at 35yo come the end of it. Then go and enjoy the rest of your retirement with your kids, Mic and count your lucky stars it wasn't a lot worse.
Probably alone in this opinion but for a while I've thought I'd like to see Antonio in coaching/managing. Something about his temperament I really like and think he could inspire young Footballers in the game. I actually think he's more switched on Football wise than some give him credit for. Maybe a path he'd like to take should the recovery go well but obviously no time soon.

Genuinely just relieved that the guy survived, after seeing that car.
His general recovery is all that matters. Unlikely to play again, sure, but he has been an excellent signing for us and gave us nine years of unrelenting energy, strength, speed and goals. Proper West Ham.
Hope his recovery goes as well as it can.
One of the few recent signings who "got" what being West Ham was; Tevez & Fornals were similar. Bonds was the benchmark in that respect.
Hope he recovers (as fully as he can) and the club don't abandon him.

Agree 100% Massive. Its about recovery for the rest of his life not football thats a low priority now at his age etc

Well, the talk is a compound fracture (bone sticking out through the skin Buust style) and a double fracture.
Neither things someone comes back from easily even when young.
It's done (barring a minor miracle). With regards to his footballing career, thankfully he had it as much as he could at the top level and this happened now, rather than say like Dean Ashton suffered early career. Earned a shit load (with the 2 crashed super cars to prove it), played a shit load, scored a shit load and topped it off by winning a European pot.
His focus has just got to be recovering and walking again now. Bollocks to the rest.

Femur? He's toast at this level. Surgery, 3 to 6 month minimum for the bone to fuse. Possibly more surgery to remove any exrernal rods and then rehab. Year to 18 months and then he'll be lucky to walk without a limp.

Isn't Collyrob an IRA fanboy? The human consequences of things don't really concern them too much, so you'll have to excuse him.

Moyes would still pick him ahead of Scamacca, it’s a flesh wound son you’ll be fine for Monday.
Things won’t be the same without Antonio.

It’s 40mph on that road but used to be national speed limit. Pretty annoying when it’s a clear road tbh but like others have said the deer can take you by surprise.
Didn’t know Sullivan lived down there and so close to me. Needs a visit like Shearer got from the Sunderland fans the slag

Assuming he recovers, any contract extension should be contingent on him buying a sensible car. Maybe a Volvo.
Issue him only a Mega Rider.

Given the state of the car and that he was air lifted to hospital it would be mad if he has escaped fairly unscathed. Suspect the next update will tell us more.

To be fair to the Deers, they probably think the same about us driving cars around their manor. Majestic animals when you suddenly see them bowling by.
Someone close to me driving on Friday night on a dual carriageway almost got taken out by a lorry missing her by a cats whisker. Apparently the lorry was nudged by the wind and forced into her lane nearly getting crushed into the central reservation.
Stay safe out there, the weather's a right cսnt at the moment and not to be underestimated.

I suppose once it's confirmed he's in the clear and it's just about the recovery, attention will turn to if and when he will be back available? Suspect that would be a pointless exercise at this early stage, but would be a real shame if he's finished due to this.
Always remembered Laurie Cunningham died in a car accident on a notorious road in Malaga. It was know as the road of death IIRC.

The Deers are fuckers round there, but usually early in the morning they are more dangerous. Had a few close encounters and know people who’ve gone into them. Let’s hope he makes a full recovery. Iffy road to drive if you don’t know it well. Sullivan’s house is on it, so maybe that’s where he was going?

Latest information - it happened on Coppice Row, Theydon Bois. He was trapped for 55 mins before being cut free. It was a single car accident. Another photo of the crash site with car -
I wonder if he swerved to miss a dear.. Any signs of skid marks on the road ?
Surface of the road looks damp so possibly no skid marks. No mention of a deer carcass in the vicinity.
Just hope he wasn't texting on his mobile, lost it and bounced off a tree.
Wind tears through that forest on a good day and the trees almost seem to channel and strengthen it. That road if I recall correctly is national speed limit so if there's no deer involved on a straight road and given the damage to the car I'd say being hit by a stong side wind while travelling at 60mph in a light RWD car on a damp road is all it would take to lose grip. Especially if the wind gets under the chasis and lifts the car, downforce is all gone and the road is too narrow to recover it.
Probably just travelling too fast (not necessarily speeding) for the conditions rather than distracted, again assuming no deer involved.

There are a (fair) few posters on here who see any subject as a chance to appear all edgy and grab attention for themselves.
It's almost as if they see themselves and whatever they have to say as far more important than the subject under discussion itself.
