While I'm on the subject Fantomas's The Directors Cut album of film music contains some great re-imaginings.
The Godfather theme, Der Golem and Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me are standouts.

I forgot about Faith No More’s versions of Easy and I Started a Joke.
War Pigs, Midnight Cowboy and their FNM vs Sparks single as well.
They did a hilarious cover of Barbie Girl on the Angel Dust tour.

Robert elms on bbc radio London on a Friday does a thing called cover to cover where he plays two versions of the same song . He’s been doing it for years and it’s surprising how sometimes you change your mind when you hear the two played back to back .
Wasn't aware of this.
Nice one fella, will give it a listen

Must be getting old, as forgot Lake Of Fire, originally by Meat Puppets and covered by Nirvana on the MTV Live album.
Also Lead Belly's Where Did You Sleep Last Night from the same album, although difficult to determine the better version of the two as from totally different eras. I suppose you go with what you're familiar with/was a fan of at the time.

I don’t know if it’s better than the original, but Hounds of Love by the Futureheads is just as good. I saw them playing it live at Victoria Park a few weeks ago - it was marvellous.
