"Hated Picard, turned it off at the sword fighting bit. Let out an audible groan. And off it went"

"Agreed on The Peripheral. Watched the first 2 episodes and thought it was a good watch. Have also been watching Picard on Amazon which is a good watch if you like Sci-Fi. Have always been able to take or leave Star Trek but it's decent and some good nods back to the past with charachters and references that you don't have to be a trekkie nerd to get. Enjoyed Rings of Power, too."

I watched the first episode of the peripheral last night. Very interesting and highly enjoyable. Kinda a bit matrix but more wedded to modern realities. Looking forward to the rest of it.

"Maybe I'll get panned for this but watched 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' on the iPlayer almost by accident as I generally hate BBC3. Written and starring Daisy May Cooper who had completely passed me by with that show 'This Country' which I never watched. Anyway, AIBU? is absolutely fucking superb. I'd go so far as calling it genius. Yeah, yeah yeah it has the disabled kid and the black woman going out with her white husband but they are utterly central to the story and in no way did they feel shoehorned in. The show could give lessons to Tarantino on how to move back and forwards in time, each scene shot from one perspective then showing it later from a slightly different angle which reveals what really happened. You watch it thinking 'I know who did it' then it throws you another curve ball that gets you thinking all over again. A clever, clever six short episodes. Funny as fuck too. It's something to cling to as we all man the lifeboats from UK PLC. We still make some great TV."

"Northern - watched that recently. Pretty harrowing stuff, and in the middle of that you have absolute dregs of civilisation like the Israeli guys (particularly Yaar) and that entirely predictable American guy who “doesn’t feel guilty about anything”."

"Just finished and would recommend Dopesick - a miniseries about the big pharma company Purdue, that illegally promted the deadly opioid oxycontin to an innocent American public, with the help of an entirely corrupt FDA. I look forward to the future Pfizer miniseries in about 20 years, when the current scumbags that profit from regulated poison are finally exposed."

"Side - I would agree with that, to make out that right wing extremism is more than a threat in the UK than Islamic fundamentalism was rubbish, disappointing but not unexpected."

"New Jersey, I watched the first episode of that walk in and indeed Stephen Graham was excellent but the subliminal wokeness on a true story to make white people the worst of all the terrorism that goes on over here was ridiculous. For instance there was a scene where it was obviously an EDL type march where the opposition protestors were all Asian women.....behave ffs....at least show the scum which sits on both sides of this type of shit....in fact just tell the truth of it....instead you end up watching a half truth at best....."

"its best to find a critic who's taste matches yours. Some stuff Mark Kermode likes I like, some he doesn't like that I do but I always recognise why so generally see it. He does sometimes follow the crowd a bit"

"I don't take much notice of critical reviews any more. They are mostly paid for, coerced or bribed by the film studios or have political agendas of their own or their employers that they can't resist pushing. Witness the rave critical reviews for pieces of crap like She-Hulk, Rings of Power etc that contrast with the audience rating drubbings. I suspect we are about to get the same in reverse for Black Adam. Lukewarm critics and a billion bucks plus at the global box office."
