WHO vs. KUMB

I had a look on KUMB yesterday and was struck by how much more active it is in on there. Multiple West Ham related threads, decent debate and much more activity.

This site remains moribund despite the good work setting up the new site. Seems the owners held out too long before sorting the server issue and the site has suffered as only a handful of active posters remain, many of whom are abusive keyboard warriors who offer nothing but hatred and pettiness.

I'm seriously tempted to bin off this site and switch to KUMB, and I can't be the first. Something needs to be done.

To be fair to those who put in all the work in making the changes, the site is much better than it was.

The unfortunate current thing is that there are 2-3 posters that tend to clog the site up with annoying shit. Going back over the last 15-20 years that I've been popping on here, there were always people on the wind up and annoying posters, especially when people decided to give their strong political opinions - but the majority of football and social threads were actually pretty funny. But given the small number of regular knowledgable football posters on here now, there's a high percentage of posts that seem to appear are from the same few people that put me off from opening most threads these days, or even visiting the site. You don't even have to look beyond this thread to find them.

It's still better than Kumb for proper football debates a lot of the time, and with more posts from the likes of Stubbo and some others for example, it's becoming a more interesting places to read and discuss west ham again, but we need a lot more of those types to outnumber those mentioned in the paragraph above.

this site I have found a lot more friendly.

One possible strategy for growing this community is to meet up before and after games?

Just to throw in a bit of context to this. The site is growing again since the updates. That last match day was the highest number of posts on the site by the highest number of different posters since the change.

There is technical debt/organisational things to clear up in the background so you wont be seeing much changes at the moment. But there are tentative plans to increase the breadth of content and the general offering. Things will improve.

Moderation needs sorting. I still feel too new around these parts to have authority to wade in but it should be a community effort anyway. My view is it is a tough line to tread as part of the appeal of the site is that the site offers a lot more freedom than that other site.

Anther opinion I hold is that all of us could do with a degree of humility sometimes and admit to ourselves we don't know as much as we think we do about West Ham, football in general and especially politics. Perhaps me more than most. And to that end when we disagree with someone's views it probably would help not to habitually end your post with an insult in the hope that someone will pay your opinion some attention. You know who you are. It would make growing the site a lot easier.

I agree that WHO is all but done, must only be a dozen regular posters left now and any laughs are few and far between. The new layout doesn't help, and yes I know some made a big effort etc. As for KUMB, the cunts over there can fuck off, never been tempted to offer my wisdom, humour and knowledge to that lot. Cunts.

Hammer and Pickle has ruined this site.

Not sure how he has never been black carded and IP banned.
