There. Resident WHO political commentators and gurus can knock yourselves out in here and conduct your endless bickering. All other threads will be locked.
Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
The referendum was for AV not PR which was a massive foul up by Nick Clegg. That combined with the tuition fees thing and caving in on Andrew Lansley's terrible and expensive health reforms is a sorry record.
ICE are, effectively, the Federal government's brownshirts inflicting fear and punishment on all in blue cities only.
The irony of a guy getting murdering for exercising his first and second amendment rights is painful.
Much as I disagree with open carry, our gun laws are about right, the second amendment is there precisely to counter a federal government overreaching its constitutional powers.
I have a firearms license and own a rifle but it stays in the armoury of my shooting club.

I’d agree with that, however MN will have to make concessions on their Sanctuary City protections. They can’t simply keep hiding illegal criminals from ICE agents and allowing them to walk the streets. They need to start co-operating.

Whilst Comma craves PR,he is no fan of democracy. He proved this time and again in the aftermath of the Brexit referendum.

Whilst I have always thought that PR was desirable from the point of view of improved democracy, if this AI assessment is anywhere near true, I don't think it will bring about better government.

Key Changes to the Political Landscape
- End of One-Party Rule: Under almost all PR models, Labour would have won approximately 219 to 228 seats, far short of a majority. A "progressive" coalition including Labour, the Liberal Democrats, and the Greens would likely have been the most viable governing option.
- Surge for Smaller Parties: Reform UK and the Green Party would have seen the most dramatic gains. Reform UK would have increased from 5 seats to roughly 90–100 seats, while the Greens would have jumped from 4 to over 60 seats.
- Stronger Official Opposition: The Conservatives would have remained the second-largest party with approximately 139–148 seats. Under some specific projections, they might have even been closely rivaled by Reform UK for the role of primary opposition.
- Shift in Regional Power: The SNP would have nearly doubled its seat count from 9 to 16 or 18 seats, while Plaid Cymru would have maintained or slightly increased its representation.

It feels like a turning point for the administration and their approach to immigration. This on top of the last couple of weeks has been damaging for the republicans and that seems to be sinking in.

Yes, I wish we had had one. It would be much better than that referendum on switching to AV, a watered down and complicated version of first past the post, that we had in 2011.

how the Lib-Dems betrayed their values when they teamed-up with the Tories, especially Nick Clegg... another 'nose in the troth' cսnt, went on to earn multi-millions with Meta/Facebook.

What makes you think Nigel and a bunch of failed Tories who created a lot of the mess is a useful and successful change?
A cabinet of Nigel , Tice, Zahawi , Jenrick, Cruella Braverman & Liz Truss … do you have confidence in them?
We KNOW the current lot are not fit to govern under the Labour party mandate (through experience). We KNOW the previous lot are not fit to govern under the Tory party mandate (through experience).
We have no experience of how Reform UK will perform as we have no experience of them either way. Surely that alone is a better reason for voting them in than continuing with either of the previous governmental parties who we KNOW are not up to the task.

So you'd like us to move to proportional representation instead of FPTP, Mr Comma? You've kept that quiet
(Of course you'd prefer PR - it's the only way the Lib Dems would get a sniff of power)

You can smell the fear here, even online. The country NEEDS a change of people and policy in the elected administration.
The state and media will do all they can to prevent that change, but better by far that it happens by ballot, even, if, like Brexit, that ballot doesn't deliver what the state and media hierarchy feel they (and fuck everybody else) "justifiably" are entitled to.

If Reform are going to win this Gorton and Denton by-election, it would probably help if they could find the right fucking place to campaign in!

I thought the point of voting Reform was because the two main parties fucked up and we need to try something new?
They're sniffing possible Cabinet jobs in 2029, some will even be considering a challenge to Farage as a lot of people agree with what Reform want to offer but the thought of Farage will push them towards the Greens or Lib Dems.

Yusuf was only criticising the Tories a few months ago for the secret Afghan asylum leak. Braverman was the home secretary at the time, Jenrick immigration minister.
