Well, after the false dawn of Nottingham Forest, and coming crashing back down to earth against Palace, we sit 4 defeats from 5 for the season so far.
Potter is under increasing pressure (despite the usual 'we back the manager' horse shit from the Club) and it's clear that "contingency plans" are being established, with a series of uninspiring names being thrown into the public domain....Bilic, Dyche, Nuno, O'Wall...the real next level fraternity of the Football Manager commuity.
With protests planned before the game (see
here for details if you want to join) it will undoubtedly be an interesting atmosphere at the toilet bowl.
This looks like a bad game to run into at this juncture, with the Nigels being proficient at corners, and having concended only once all season. Only a win is really good enough, but a draw looks like it will buy him a trip to Everton to take on the Moyes millstone which continues to sit heavily round the necks of West Ham.
If Potter has a brain, he'll go not just for the win in this game, but for some vibes as well, with a selection that at the very least inspires interest. Unfortunately I suspect JWP is first name down, Hermansen continues his demonstration of why you don't stick a midget in goal, and Summerville misses out.
Wan Bissaka is out with a nasty case of the shits, Soucek starts the three game ban, but other than that we're expected to be at "full strength". No doubt there'll be a temptation to look to match up the Palace formation with a return to 3 at the back, but it feels this would be a mistake.
Predicted Lineup:Hermansen
Walker Peters; Mavropanos; Kilman; Diouf
JWP; Magassa;
Bowen; Paqueta; Fernandes
Wilson;
Subs: Areola, Todibo, Igor, Scarles, Irving, Rodriguez, Summerville, Guilherme, Fullkrug
Predicted outcome: West Ham 0 - 2 Crystal Palace (Mateta 2)

Marshall played and scored last night.

If he plays Fernandes in that weird hybrid position on the left, it’s akin to when Moyes constantly played Paqueta there, but probably worse.
We have natural pace out there with Summerville, but more importantly, Fernandes seems all action. Tackles, passes well, travels with the ball. I’m not suggesting he’s at the level, but he is the closest in style we’ve had to Rice since he left. We’ve paid a lot of money for him so play him in his natural box to box position, it’s such a straightforward decision.

Agree with honky’s team
If he picks JWP again I despair
Need pace & energy
Last season we couldn’t cope with Mateta, our centre halves need to grow a pair & toughen up
No idea what will happen today in our 3rd home London derby of the season … currently 1 goal & 8 conceded

It’ll be Hermansen in goal and JWP 100% starting
And the only good thing to come out of those decisions will be that it should surely end Potters reign of terror

It is the hope that kills.
We should scrape a draw at the very least, we need to.

If he picks the correct line up 2-0, if he picks the likely line up 1-2

Glasner is one if the best managers around at the moment. Him and Iraola since they dont have the resourced of the rich clubs.
Again goes back to our owner. Not even the board other than them not ganging up on Sullivan to get him to walk away from say to day running of the club.
Kretinsky and Tripp should join the march

if they want a chance of their investment in West Ham to really grow in terns of football success but I guess tgats the problem, they dont care about that. Its just an asset in their portfolio that appreciated a bit by just staying in the Prem Lge.
The root problem remains the Sullivan family. West Ham gives them something to do. Jack and Dave Jnr ate rich kids with no purpose in life. Playing football manager with Dad and their mates ( Salthouse etc) gives them something to feel they “do”. What dows Sullivan and his sons do all day ? Ok, brasses, gambling, drugs, booze? Must have been a strange thing growing up in Sullivan’s mansions. Different “mums” etc

Palace are actually due a loss. They're unbeaten this season including when they beat Liverpool in the Community Shield, in Europa Conference and Millwall in the League Cup. In fact the last time they lost competitively was 15 games ago at Newcastle back in April.
I'm so glad we overlooked out of work Glasner for keeping hold of Moyes right till the end...

If last season, fabs or areola had let 11 in so far - they would have been dropped without hesitation. A lot of our problems can be laid at the players in front of him but Mads has to be rested, the opposition can see he's the weak link.
.
Cant see us getting anything im afraid. Cock Piss will play mads, jwp, rodriguez i reckon. . I wonder when Big Ig will make an appearance. So a loss followed by some sort of rampage i expect.
would like to see
Areola
KWP Mavvers Kilman Diouf
Magassa Fernandes
Paqueta
Bowen Summerville
Wilson

Can't see them not scoring but I feel oddly confident. Can see us winning this one. 3-1

Same team as Sir Alf but Wilson in for Marshall, who would be better coming on after 60 against tired defenders. Also tempting to play Todibo instead of the ineffectual Kilman but they're probably as bad as each other.
Another tonking and I reckon it'll be curtains for Potter. Not at all confident that that won't happen.
Sadly Todibo is even worse I the air than Kilman. And with Soucek so out and our frailty to the high ball....don't see Todibo near the team unless we revert to a back 3.
If Nuno or someone like that comes in, we'll probably never see him again...unless he gets converted Tomkins stylee to Central Midfield.

——— Areola ———-
KWP. Mavro. Kilman. Diouf
——- Magassa. Fernandes —-
————- Paqueta —————
Bowen. —- Marshall —— Summerville
Wilson or Fullkrug on for Marshall on 60 mins. Marshall will run his nuts off and go for everything and means their defence will need to be on their toes, that might at least tire them out a bit before Wilson or tte Kraut come on.
Of course we might not win, even with what seems to be our best available starting 11, but at least its trying something different.
JWP included and / or 5 at the back again and we lose definitely, and all data points to a Palace win. They have a brilliant manager, great defence and not lost for ages. They are also excellent at set pieces so suspect we will concede at least 1.
I can take a narrow loss if the performance is better over 90 mins. I would take a draw now. A win is impossible but have to hope a fluke / extremely lucky win occurs like the game against Burnley a few seasons back ( the post was given MOTM

) or even the Fulham or Mancs home games last season where we got very undeserved wins

Fabianski

Paqueta; Magassa; Fernandes
Bowen; Wilson; Summerville

In years past Palace at home would yield a reasonable expectation of a home win, but not this time. They are unbeaten and our relative home form is dire (We haven't won at home in how many?) and there could be a toxic atmosphere, if there even is one. Id feel more confident if we were away.
1-3
In fact we haven't beaten Palace at home since December 2018.
That is shocking.

They've been a bit of a bogey team for us for quite a while (then again lots of teams become bogey teams when you're shit) 3 wins and 6 losses out of the last 12. 6 wins out of the last 20.

0 - 4 and he is gone before MOTD broadcasts.
id take 0-4 if it spurred the board into making a change, but it wouldn't.
You know the score by now: Dyche or Cooper in January it is as we circle the drain.
