Talkshite Miike Do you mean that Moyes deserves credit for having the foresight to rest Bowen in the first leg 2 weeks ago?

"the jock twat needs to be careful about running bowen in to the ground, if he has his brain working right he'll use antonio in this european game rather than the league. knowing him he'll do it the other way round. I'm at the staff now where it wouldn't bother me if we dropped in to the conference, anything to get rid of the moyesesaurus"

"Yea possibly Soucek, he left him out the other week."

"Probably JWP as he did last week. But maybe that was Arsenal and he'll think Alvarez is enough against these and leave out Soucek, our squad as usual is unbalanced and as usual Moyes wants his favourites in and not those best suited to the roles needed"

"Alf - You are getting a tad confused I think. Forget Benrahama, assuming Kudus starts, which he surely will, and you think he will start Antonio and Soucek, then he has to leave one out from JWP. Alvarez, Paqueta or Bowen?"

"Can see him leaving Benrahma out and moving Kudus to the left. Hope not but not unimaginable ? Cornet is this seasons Downes. Not getting any minutes so when he does he’s unsurprisingly off the pace and lacks that sharpness you only get from getting more time on the pitch. He’s the only naturally wide left player we have in the squad and yet Moyes doesn’t seem to want to give him a chance ? I suspect Cornet like Downes was brought in by someone else? ( Newman, Sullivan via Salthouse? ) You have to give players more than a few mins as it can take 2 or 3 games to get up to speed after a long time out. Was reading that Downes struggled a bit in his first few games at Southampton but Martin, his former manager at Swansea, persevered with him and he’s become their most consistent performer last 7 or so games. Paqueta struggled when first in the team but got up to speed after a few games and being played in his correct position as a number 8 Moyes decisions on selection of players and their positions is bizarre"

"Alf - So who would he leave out, no way it can be Kudus?"

Manuel I think he will play Antonio and Soucek and the fluidity of the front line for a brief period against Arsenal has already been forgotten by Moyes.

"I believe this is the first game where Moyes has to make a bona fide call on Antonio and our system, based on no injuries, no suspensions, Kudus has to start and it's an important game. Anyone fancy calling it?"

Early team news is that Moyes now only has to decide on the 10 to play with Soucek He can’t leave him out especially after his superb heading provided a perfect assist for Brentford’s opener

"I agree with strongest team comment. Does this mea, though, keeping Antonio on the bench? I think it’s worth pursuing. If we can use him as impact player from heron until a striker comes in, that’ll do me."

"Can't afford to fuck this one up so I hope he learned his lesson from the away game against this lot where he took them too lightly, and it's strongest team available from the start of the match. We can't just assume it'll be a stroll in the park like last season where we still made heavy weather of the QF, SF and F despite being far better man for man than all the opposition we faced. Agree that it really should be a home win, but clearly saw from the first game if we're not on it they will punish us. You can argue one or even both their goals were a bit flukey or lucky but that's where you have to makes sure you're not in a position to get done by a freak deflection, mad penalty or something like that. Get on the front foot and get a goal early."

"At least losing in Greece has made this more interesting now rather than the usual group cakewalk, this is the first group game this season that I'm looking forward to, all at 3am too. Greeks notoriously don't travel well and a packed stadium under the lights and at full strength I don't see anything other than a win, and maybe comfortably, which will que Moyes boasting how wonderful he is afterwards."

Strongest team to begin and then rest players once we are hopefully in control of the game and 2 or 3 up. Must win.
