Think its just a case of time until they get a 2nd and kill the game off even though we are putting in an effort. We dont have anything in attack really

Well that’s us fucked if Kilman is injured. That’s zero centre halves left. Our luck is unbelievable

Yes that was ridiculous. Clearly just trying to get Paqueta in trouble. Not hurt at all.

Got to give Potter time and allow him to sign the players he wants. So it’s very early days.

But one thing he already HAS to change is the tendency for his sides to be shot shy.

No shots on target in the last 135 minutes of football.

You can’t play like that. Test the keeper. Let opponents know you’ll shoot on sight if you have the chance. We actually had a couple of decent shooting chances in the first half and went sideways instead.

This is an improvement on both previous managers. It’s patched up. You can understand the logic of playing experienced full backs in a back three given the circumstances even if you don’t agree with it.

Despite that, we’ve at least played with the ball for a nice change.

Come on you 2 cunts, give Potter some backing.

I can understand why a lot of the old posters have binned this place off.

Back what you cսnt? FBs playing at CB. A CM playing as a striker? Every fucking game with five defenders and two, sometimes three holding players? You can't be watching the games if you're applauding this shit

So many “coachable” issues for us.

a) midfielder receives the ball from CB. There is space behind him to turn and run straight through their midfield as their 2 mids are yards apart and have literally given him an opening. What does he do? Passes it straight back to the CB immediately putting him under pressure? Why????  Why decide the 1st thing you’re going to do is pass back? You’re not creating space you’re creating a problem. No one was tracking you ffs!

 B) our 9 (paq) is in between their CB’s in their area. He as some support from other forwards. Creswell/emerson? Are on the left. Two options , there isn’t a clear pass on the floor but you can put it on their box and see if Paq can get it or knock it on and kudus/ Soler get the second ball. Or pass it all the way back to our keeper who is now under pressure and ends up kicking it long and they have possession again!!!
ffs. You had a scoring opportunity and turned it into nothing for no reason.

Who is coaching this shit? It can’t be potter.
none of it makes any sense.
id be livid as that. Posession for posession sake is a waste of time.

We are competing with what we have and players putting in an effort but Coufal and Cresswell are obvious weak points and our lack of pace as a team always makes it hard for us to beat an opposition press and play thru the middle.

Picking Coufal seems to be the one thing you can lay at Potter’s feet when we have Scarles available but otherwise the team available is trying to give them a game. We have Bowen, Summerville and Todibo to return thats all. The biggest area of weakness is the same as its been for 10 years, the centre of the park imo. Potter hopefully the first manager to see it needs fixing this window or summer.

As predicted, a woeful decision to play Coufal at RCB when he could have switched him with AWB or blooded Casey instead. I doubt Villa would have scored that goal if someone else was playing there instead.
All in all though, not been too bad after the first 10-15 mins. Mind you, Villa have a habit of improving as the game goes on and we probably should have made more of our chances in the first half.

Crowd doing its best to influence the officials. Paqueta, Cash and Digne all embarrassing in their play acting. Potter needs to pull Paqueta up on it the absolute ponce. Still in it. Villa look dangerous when they feel like it but they don't look great at the back. Not really sure what you do sub wise bar maybe stick Ings on. Problem going forward is AWB is no wing back so if Potter prefers three at the back where do you play him?

Playing two shit fullbacks at CB and our best attacking midfielder as striker has weakened every single position.

I’d rather both Coufal and Cresswell off for Guilherme and Casey and try and go for it, rather than shithouse our way with square pegs.

A couple players would absolutely transform this side, but we’ve known that for ages and nothing has been done.

Paqueta doing his level best to get one of there’s sent off and give us a chance!

Not actually too bad since going behind. Paqueta doing really well at that thankless task up top for me, and seems to have got his work rate back.

I thought the consensus (including Howard Webb) was the ref got it completely wrong when the Brighton player (Joao Pedro?) avoided a red card for an attempted elbow that didn’t connect. On that basis, how is the Digne one different? Learn from previous mistakes.

Then again, Bankes is the worst top flight ref in history. I don’t think that’s even an exaggeration. The bloke is absolutely disastrous.

This is why this whole transfer saga is so fucking annoying.

Clearly Potter knows what he is doing so just give him £60/70m to spend in January and trust the process.

I can’t believe he would have joined us without reassurances unless of course he was just waiting for Macauley to join before deciding who to buy?

Absolute carcrash performance.

Far to defensive again.
Cresswell,  Coufal as CBs is laughable.  Both are finished articles.

Shame we haven't done any business....

We’re not doing too bad with a patched up team. Still no shots on target though, and we have been poor at trying to play the ball out if defence, and we leave gaps for them to exploit.

Paqueta is an embarrassment by the way. That was pathetic. Not that they are much better.
