WHUFC West Ham vs Spurs | PL | 13.9.25 | Predictions and Match Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

With the 'interesting' football hiatus that International Football brings, figured I'd get this match thread up.  The result against Forest makes this game in some ways less significant (as the clock will have been reset on Potter's tenure) but also more interesting as there is a modicum of form to take into the game.

Fullkrug should obviously never be allowed on international duty again, what with it being an injury magnet for him, but that aside, as of now there are no new injuries.  Rumours of a Summerville injury also appear unfounded.

So from a lineup perspective, I'm expecting something like:
Hermansen

Walker-Peters  Mavropanos   Kilman   Diouf

Ward-Prowse Magassa

 Bowen     Soucek   Fernandes

Paqueta
Subs: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Igor, Rodriguez, Irving, Guilherme, Summerville, Willson

Left out: Earthy, Marshall, Potts, Scarles.
Prediction: 1-2 Spurs (Muani, Kudus;  Bowen for us)

We can’t even sell out our biggest game of the season, what a joke of a club we are.

That tells you Spurs aren’t a big pull, more their cup final than ours as I’m sure you’ll agree. Same goes for Spurs, their biggest game in years vs Villarreal in Champions league Tuesday and it isn’t sold out either, general sale which is embarrassing !!

Must be people in our team that know the buttons to push on Kudus. Not like he doesn’t have history of losing his head.

Other that that, I’d love someone to put in a good old fashioned reducer, early enough that it might be let go from a yellow card, that leaves him hobbling about and goes off injured.

Or just keep him on his right foot.

We have every chance of winning this depending on team selection, Potter has almost everyone available and should be brave, but based on his previous selections I fear he’ll put out more of a sows ear than the potential silk purse. Hard to call, hopefully 2-1⚒

Magassa hits Kudus with a perfectly timed tackle that fractures his leg in 6 places
Kudus lashes out from a sitting position & is sent off
Carried off for an early bath on a stretcher
With his leg carried off on his Elephant stool

Bowen equalises just after the half time break
Paquata puts us in front in the lat 10 minutes of normal time
Kudos puts the icing on the cake with an own goal in injury time

Spurs were shocking against Bournemouth, so I think we do have a good chance of another victory playing the same way at home. I hope we get a controversial VAR fuck up that decides it for us against them. 😇

Hard to call this, if we are up for it and continue to play as we did against Forest then we have a good chance of taking all 3 points.

Think half & half scarves are an abomination but how is banning them going to stop Tottenham fans getting in the home sections?

The only way to do that is to stop selling tickets to them!

If its been said then I JUST FUCKING REPEATING IT you cսntWest Ham have banned half-and-half scarves from Saturday's Premier League game with Tottenham. The Hammers say the unusual move is part of "increased security activity" that will take place at the London derby, which kicks off at 17:30 BST.It is one of a number of measures the club have taken "for the safety of all supporters and to prevent any fans of the away club from gaining access to home sections of the stadium".Security staff will confiscate the half-and-half scarves - or any other item featuring the colours or crests of both clubs - before fans enter London Stadium.

Prior to the last round of PL matches I would have predicted a win for Spurs but the result of us winning and Spurs losing two weeks ago gives me pause for thought.

I think it’s a win for us the more so as Chris Sutton has predicted yet another defeat.

Suspect you may be right PB

Spurs under Frank are an unknown quantity. He has yet to use all of their summer acquisitions and they invested a big wedge.  If Frank uses his Brentford style tactics it will be a fast start and they will look to dominate the midfield. The circumstances at Forest may well have helped but the biggest difference IMHO was simply that 4 at the back for us allowed an extra player in midfield. Without Fullkrug I fear Potter will push Paqueta further forward again and if he deploys his 5 at the back it will leave only 3 in the midfield and despite having Fernandes I can still see us being overrun as we were against Chelsea.

Unfortunately I also see him remaining loyal to JWP who, without his set pieces, is no more than a bench player imo. Just lacks the physicality and speed required in the Prem Lge midfield match ups nowadays.  I cant see the new lad Magassa starting or Summerville or Wilson so it likely means Bowen deployed centrally yet again and he wont win much from the 2 Spurs CBs who I reluctantly have to concede are a good pairing.

I can see us being 2 down by half time and its then easy for Spurs to pick us off as we have to chase the game.

I would like to see the winning team and formation from the Forest game retained but give Marshall a starting role first half for Fullkrug with instruction to run his nuts off pressing ( something he’s good at ) and look to Wilson coming on around 60 mins. Magassa for JWP even Irvine then Magassa would be my preference / opinion.   We have to stay in the game for 60 mins, pack the midfield with hard workers so that means Fernandes, Paqueta, Magassa. Summerville is unlikely to be ready for 90 mins so I guess we start Soucek in the midfield? I would prefer Potts or Irvine.

Anyway, I hate to admit it bit Spurs will be top 6-8 I suspect this season so its gonna be a really tough game.

But our transfer business falling short this summer is already showing. We needed another young, combative, pacy central midfielder and of course striker too.

Prior to the Forest game I would expected a 5 goal defeat with a Kudus hattrick.
Am slightly more optimistic given that and how poor they were v Bournemouth
As long as Potter has learnt from our game & theirs
Still wouldn’t predict a win though

Form can tend to go out the window in these games, so hard to call, but I think they'll have too much for us. Do we tend to do well after international breaks? I don't think we do. There should be some pissed up liveliness thanks to the kick off time, which usually helps these sort of games.
