Finally a sensible post from Billy.

The uS sold approx 18,000 vehicles in the UK in 2024, due to Tariffs being 27.5%.
under the new trade agreement that drops to 10% for up to 100,000 cars.

That is a big difference, you will see the number of USA cars sales increase because of it. It’s gonna happen, you’ll see.

A word to the wise, Stop listening to Goose he’s been dead wrong about everything, the idiot didn’t even realize he was a Socialist ffs!
Where do you get 27% tarrifs on cars from? I understand it was 10% on US cars. So if its still 10% which Im not sure if it is or not wont make any difference as Goose says in general  US cars are not fit for UK standards and UK roads. As I said 18000 cars to US manufacturers is zilch and we wont be doubling that any time soon. However the UK exports 101,000 cars to the US and they or their customers will have to eat the 10% but if thats a reciprocal tarrif then thats fair!

The new UK-US trade deal significantly lowers tariffs on US cars sold in the UK. The tariffs will be reduced to 10% for the first 100,000 cars exported to the US annually. Any cars exceeding this quota will be subject to a 27.5% tariff. This deal also includes reduced tariffs on steel and aluminum.
Not fit for uk standards and UK roads, what a load of bollocks. California has high emission standards and if needed the US can meet any standard any other car manufacturer can meet. As for roads we make plenty of vehicles that are fit for the UK roads ffs.

The US auto manufacturers dont give a shit about the tiny UK market. No one is buying Teslas so forget it. Same with beef its a tiny market no one is buying US beef so the "deal" is pointless.

What the US manufacturers actually want is for the tarrifs with Canada and Mexico to be dropped as that is their supply chain fucked currently! US parts sold to Canada and Mexico and vice versa feed the car industry on both sides of the borders.

It’s been a tough time for Nutsin, I almost feel sorry for him.

after the shock of finding out that America isn’t going to be making iPhones, he’s had to suffer the ignominy of discovering Tesla makes all its uk cars in Germany, the pick up market is in terminal decline, and Ford already making its best selling (cheap) cars in Romania.

and now he’s been rocked by the fact that US beef is pumped full of hormones so they can’t even export it to the U.K.

we will move on to ship building shortly 😂

I think they’ll figure it out Goose. Just like the auto issue you were spouting bollocks about.

Bit retarded comparing pick up trucks to CD’s don’t you think?
I mean do you really think Pick up trucks are obsolete?

I’d say targeting a market which has dropped off a cliff is the gold standard of retarded.

RE the beef, they feed it hormones to make it grow faster. It’s a cost exercise. When and if they stop, the price goes up.
As for the cars I understand how a Beta wouldn’t get it. Same with the muscle car. But there are other competitive models like a Tesla for example. Perhaps a ford fusion, the hybrids do 45 mpg out here, nice cars.

As for the Beef I’m sure they’ve already thought of that Goose, hardly a secret now is it? OR did you think you had the inside scoop on it LOL.
Do you understand that the Ford Mustang suffered it’s worst ever sales performance in 60 years in 2024?
The Ford fusion is already manufactured in Germany and sold in Europe.

Tesla for the uk market is manufactured in Germany as I pointed out to you.

That U.K. car market suddenly looks a complete nothing burger doesn’t it?

I guess we will have to wait and see.

As for US beef,

US beef is often known for its grain-fed, marbled, and potentially more flavorful characteristics. UK beef, on the other hand, is typically grass-fed and free-range, resulting in leaner meat with a different flavor profile.

In 2024, the UK's light commercial vehicle (LCV) market, which includes pickup trucks, saw a 3% increase to 351,834 units. While the overall LCV market grew, the pickup sector experienced a decline. Specifically, the pickup sector fell by over a quarter, finishing 28.1% down on December 2023.

Declining sales provides a golden opportunity to go in and bring back those that left the market.

Question is why the decline, US has a superior product and has some nice trucks, seems like a market crying out for better.

Not sure your foresight is accurate as per usual Goose.

I mean every topic results in you guessing the future and you’re always wrong.

Time will tell, but there is a market, the numbers show that.

I hate to break it to you, but you can already buy a right hand drive Ford Mustang in the U.K. but they’re just not very popular. The Ford brand just doesn’t come across as anything other than boring and middle of the road. It doesn’t have the prestige of the European brands.

People don’t want pick ups. They’re massive and fuel hungry. The market just isn’t there.

but hey, you’ll disagree with everything I post even it’s as plain as the nose on your face.

oh and btw, I think we have beef already.
Are you lying again?

In the UK, the Ford Puma consistently tops the charts as the best-selling car. It has maintained its position as the top-selling car in 2023 and 2024, and is currently on track to do so again in 2025. The Nissan Qashqai usually sits in second place, with the Nissan Juke following closely behind.

Do you remember when YOU posted that they couldn’t manufacture US made cars in the UK because they were all left hand drive? LOL.
It’s not too far back in this thread, it’s easily found.

Gotta laugh!
Yes you do have to laugh.
They manufacture that car in Romania.
its sells for about £25k.

nothing like a ford mustang or pick up price tag.

You said Tesla could just ‘adjust’ to make right hand drives, I told you it’s expensive. You don’t adjust you set up entire new production lines and/or units with new parts etc etc. You really should read what I post.
Such a silly argument, too stupid to take seriously.

And that’s all about to change silly nuts!

A few US cars that will sell in the UK

Ford Mustang and F150 pick up truck.
Chevy Camaro and the Silverado pick up truck, Corvette.

Dodge Ram pick up, Charger

 Cadillac Escalade, CT 5.

Tesla of course.

There’s plenty more.
so incredibly wrong, why would any buy them over superior European equivalents, only Tesla would do ok but Elon has made even that a hard sell nowdays
Still following me around I see.

Simple answer is price point. For example a Mustang is much cheaper than a BMW or Mercedes as is a Dodge Charger, considered a muscle car the market will be a specific demographic no doubt, but the demand will be there.

For Pick up trucks, Ford F150 is popular for a number of reasons but here is a more detailed reason on why you would pick one truck over another.

The "best" pickup truck is subjective and depends on individual needs, but the Ram 1500 is consistently ranked high for overall quality and features. For towing and hauling, the Ford F-250 Super Duty is a popular choice for heavy-duty needs. If you're looking for a more compact option, the Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma are often praised for their balance of utility and driving experience.
Elaboration:
  • Ram 1500:
Known for its luxurious interior, advanced technology, and smooth ride quality.
  • Honda Ridgeline:
A mid-size truck that's praised for its comfortable ride and fuel efficiency.
  • Toyota Tacoma:
A popular mid-size truck known for its reliability and off-road capabilities.
  • These are some of the reasons why people would buy US vehicles over European.
Cadillacs and GMC cars and SUV’s will appeal to a more sophisticated class of buyer. Not everyone loves European cars.

SUV’s I like the Ford Bronco, but the Cadillac Escalade is a luxurious ride, my old lady had one. The GMC/ Chevy Tahoe is another and the GMC Hummer has its fans.

The smaller cars and regular class autos will appeal for various reasons.

Needless to say you will see more American vehicles on your road that is a certainty.
