"Any chance of us signing some English players? All a bit tedious this Steidten geezer polluting up the planet jetting around the world looking for foreign players. In my opinion, we should try to retain a backbone of at least 6 English first team players."

"The kid looks amazing - good luck to him and us. How long before he is deemed shit when he gets fouled out of the game under the officials’ eye? Three games, maybe four?"

"A possible scenario Nagel A bit like we are seeing with Kudus. For a club trying to break into the top 6 and stay there its probably the most effective way to bridge the revenue gap and get around the FFP which now protects the pre FFP RICH 6. As Newcastle are finding. So long as we can get the right release clause to make a big profit. Over 5 years, letting 1 star go at a handsome profit each season. Over that 5 or so years, we would need to find a way to increase revenues via naming rights, commercial deals and most importantly qualitying for and winning euro competitions. No club outside that rich 6 has managed to consistently get in that cartel. Will be interesting to watch Villa handle Champs league and normal league fixtures. Can they make top 4 or 6 again? Anyway, sounds like this young Brazilian has something going for him, lets hope we can get him or someone signed soon to give the new manager a chance to have a full pre season with more than 16 players"

"Luis Guilherme has been linked with Liverpool, Man City & Utd, and other clubs for months. It's not like us bidding for him has suddenly put him on the radar. If we do manage to get him it'll likely be because we pay more than the other clubs are willing to for an 18 year old. They might figure that they can afford to wait and see if he's good enough at PL level and then just pay us his release clause in a year or two."

"One advantage we might have is having Emerson and Paqueta on our books. Couple of older Brazilians to make him feel a bit moe comfortable but early business in a window is tougher as selling clubs wait for bidding wars etc and the idea there is honour and trust seeme a myth. Of course, the media are at the heart of all that is wrong. Stories made up for clicks and ad revenue it drives makes 99% of what u read being highly suspect. A lot of these web sites regurgitating stories in “chinese whisper” style. Half of what they write is lazy, formulaic nonsense that insults the intelligence. On the subject of recruitment and Steidten, perhaps we should just see who Brighton are interested in and dive in late on and guzump their deal? From stories I read thats what the Mancs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs and other Prem clubs are doing with us? Soon as we get close, a story emerges next day that the price is going up or a richer club now moving in? Yeah most of its bollox but our need for early business and the state Moyes left the squad in tends to get my dungarees damp ( at my age that is easy anyway ) as we cannot seem tie anything up."

"Good news, bad news... So the good news is bollocks just played the 2nd half as a Sub for Palmeiras in an Away League match and came away unscathed with no injury. He was neat and tidy throughout the time he was on the pitch. Did 1 excellent piece of play receiving the ball cutting inside, before reversing pass out wide to team mate, got the ball back then whipped in a delightful left foot cross that was then struck against the post by team mate that almost made it 0-1 to Palmeiras. They soon win a penalty go 0-1 anyway, they equalise but in the last minute of normal time they win a corner. Wonder bollocks takes it left footed giving it plenty of chance to be won in the air which they do then another team mate direct the ball into the goal to score the winner. All from Guilhermes lovely cross. Kid then shows a bit more ability on the ball and overall was impressed by him. Now the bad news, I reckon that's now bumped his fucking price up and/or another Club could come in for him. The kids got it..."

Massive Attack 6:36 - largely agree with that... if nothing else it shows that the club are moving in an exciting new direction and should help attract decent players and keep those we want to keep.

"Joe Davis @whujoe Jun 1 The general consensus among Palmeiras fans appears to be that Luis Guilherme is a number 10, not a winger. The lack of numbers seems to be down to being put at right wing by Abel Ferreira, a position he had never played in at youth level. More in-depth piece coming. This may explain the lack of numbers to back up his talent. Well that and he's only just finished his debut season with Palmeiras (whilst helping them win the Serie A League title..) I'm not fussed about the lack of numbers for someone who was 17yo through most of the season, it's the technical talent and application I want to be convinced by and so far so good as he definitely passes my eye test via highlights. What also encourages me is those aware of him speaks glowingly about him. And we're not just talking about any old Club but one of the best in Brazil with a famed Academy of their own. The thing I like about Brazilian Footballers and people in general is they tend to be god fearing people, who are genuine sort who will be as Professional as possible with an excellent attitude. Yes there are the odd exception and Paqueta may turn out to be one of them if the betting malarkey turns out to be true but in general they are decent people and usually shit hot entertaining Footballers (also see Paqueta). The other aspect I like so much about signing such a very young talented Brazilian is having the likes of old head Brazilians Emerson and Paqueta already here to look after him and guide him along. That will be important. For what it's worth, I don't personally see Paqueta getting done for his questionable antics from what I can tell but because of it will mean he'll be sticking around for a while longer yet."

"It just seems rather bizarre that we are spending 30 mil on a player who is younger than most of our talented youngsters who have barely had a kick in the first team. I get that was almost all down to Moyes but it still feels surreal, exciting times though. Suspect he will start with time off the bench and go from there."

"I hear that, Ludo, however Endrick isn't going to Madrid to play as a regular, he'll likely struggle to get a lot of playing time what with Mbappe also rocking up and with the likes of Rodrygo and Vinicius already cemented in to their Team. For me these extremely young players, coming in from South America will still need a considerable time to bed in and adapt to everything be it style of football, the most competitive League in world Football, way of life and so on. Yes he's worth ¬£25M but I'd be blown away if he makes a significant impact for us next season and possibly the 1 after. That's where my expectations are for one so young, regardless of potential and cost. Exciting shit though, ain't it.. Little old West Ham rocking the boat amongst the other well established MASSIVE Clubs. It'll be a great start to the window showing a real statement of intent and the direction the Club wants to take. 1st Lopetegui and now Guilherme in a matter of weeks, this IS exactly what I wish for.. ü§´"

Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano Understand West Ham are now preparing all documents for Luis Guilherme deal! €30m plus 20% sell-on clause proposal exclusively revealed, being now reviewed with Palmeiras. #WHUFC hope for deal to be sealed early next week with 2006 born winger to travel for medical. Nicolò Schira @NicoSchira Follow #LuisGuilherme to #WestHam from #Palmeiras is at the final stage for €30M. Contract until 2029 with the option for 2030. Superb work, Steidten."

"I’m not going to lie but these kudus rumours are starting to worry me. If the buy out clause starts next summer but someone comes in this summer with £100m as their marquee signing for their new manager, I could see us take it and add it to the pot, with the idea of replacing him with 3 young players that are already being mentioned. I can see the logic but no sure I like the gamble."

I see the media and web sites trying to ramp up a story that Kudus is definitely on his way to a richer club. No buyout activated to next summer so 120-150 million please. Pure fabrication and bait for the “entitled” Manc and Bin Dipper supporters. Only 3 more months of it :-(

"Massive 4.21 - Guilherme’s teammate Ednick, who is going to Real Madrid for 70m is younger than Guilherme and they were talking in commentary during the CL final as if he is going to make all the difference to Real (as if they need it!)… obviously best not to expect too much but no reason why Guilherme can’t hit the ground running next season. Let’s face it if he is going to be a star then he will be good enough to feature."

It’s time the title of this thread was changed. Summer transfer speculation thread would be more apt. I come on here to see if we’ve bought anyone and all I see is post after post of wankers telling me what we should or shouln’t be doing on the transfer front.

"The 26-year-old has struggled with injuries in Italy, managing only one goal in eight Serie A appearances. However, West Ham might still be interested in acquiring him....While Abraham’s injury record is a concern No thanks."
