Daily Quiz anyone?

Post easthammer »

"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"I believe you East because it wasn't movies! ;-) Long day on the road as it's Thursday. The answers will be late if I haven't frozen to death by this evening!! I’ve given you the opening line of a famous book and the ten authors of each book in variable order at the bottom. For a maximum two points on each question give the name the book and match the author to the line. 1. Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies, with Uncle Harry, who was a farmer, and aunt Em, who was the farmer’s wife. 2. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. 3. Scarlet O’Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were. 4. The boy with fair hair lowered himself down the last few feet of rock and began to pick his way towards the lagoon. 5. Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. 6. I will begin the story of my adventures with a certain morning early in the month of June, the year of grace 1751, when I took the key for the last time out of the door of my father’s house. 7. Amerigo Bonasera sat in New York Criminal Court Number 3 and waited for justice; vengeance on the men who had so cruelly hurt his daughter. 8. Miss Brooke had that kind of beauty which seems to be thrown into relief by poor dress. 9. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. 10. When a day that you happen to know is Wednesday starts off by sounding like Sunday, there is something seriously wrong somewhere. Authors - Mario Puzo - Jane Austen - Charles Dickens - George Eliot - John Wyndham - Frank Baum - William Golding - Margaret Mitchell - Douglas Adams - Robert Louis Stevenson -"
