"Been through bad time lately with suffering with this. Dark thoughts as well. I know some posters on here suffer with this. Anyone come through the other side of this shit?
"A number of posters have been yellow carded and told to stay off this thread unless they have anything constructive to add. This is a thread that has been very useful to so many, for any other posters with scores to settle, argue on another thread. This thread is sacrosant.Thank you"

Mike Objective truths are not this site’s strength. It’s a bit of an asylum and always has been. There are only a few moments when the site comes together. If the mods could pin up any known services for people in need of help for mental health that would be good but bearing in mind people live all over the World even that is tricky so this thread should still give some pointers for those seeking advice.

"Bungo 10:12 Wed Jan 29 I think I understand where you're coming from, but some of these ""less helpful"" comments might well be the nearest some posters can currently get to asking for help. If that's the case then we should tolerate such posts and maybe even ""nudge"" those posters to help them make that big first step. For some, asking for help (in these matters) is tantamount to admitting you're a failure. You're not (by a long shot) but those beliefs are so strongly institutionalised in some that going against them threatens often the only things they know & understand. It's a leap of faith, not a leap into the unknown, but it must seem like the latter to some."

Mods Just a thought but how about removing some of the 'less helpful' comments from this thread?

"normannomates 4:46 Tue Jan 28 I think the thing that keeps you on the rails is the fact that you can often be monumentally stupid. The default stupid male doesn't really think and so how can he get depressed? Shit's passing over his head all the time. It's the sensitive, clever people who see the tragedy all around them and they need a little help in processing their feelings in a more positive way. NLP, CBT and mindfulness do their best to rewire certain situations that occur in your head and try and turn those feelings positively. Life is great, life is terribly sad. Both of those statements are correct. The question is, which one are you going to concentrate on for the sake of your mental health?"

"Norman, At a bit of a loss here fella on the one hand you have been on the RIP threads being respectful and decent and it should have been clear to you that the timing of this thread is no accident. Yet here you are spouting just the sort of stupid, judgey bloke shit that puts men off opening up and leads to them feeling isolated, shamed, misunderstood and like they have no other option other than to drink or take their own lives. Can you not see that?"

"I was lucky enough to know Paul McKenna and even luckier to meet Richard Bandler the inventor of NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming and it was a pivotal point in my life (and neither of them wanted a penny from me, they just wanted to help me when I was at an all time low). It's a lot of different disciplines, some don't work and some stick but somehow it completely changed my mindset and over a period of weeks changed my internal wiring from fundamentally negative to fundamentally positive. Got anything to lose by reading up on it a bit?"

I think genes have something to do with it. In my case my mum has always been a chronic worrier.
