If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"I think you need to read the Moyes out thread mate. Tim Steidten has not been banned from the dressing room or training ground at West Ham, despite a verbal disagreement with David Moyes, according to Sean Whetstone. The well-connected Hammers source explained via his X account, however, that Steidten has voluntarily agreed to avoid player areas to allow Moyes to concentrate on seeing out the rest of the season."

Tim Steidten had been banned from any contact with the first team at the behest of David Moyes apparently. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/02/west-ham-rift-has-deepened-between-moyes-and-technical-director-steidten

If I was running a business and the manager's contract was about to expire I would 1. Speak with him about a new contract and the nature of how I would want it structured based upon the history of the old one. 2. Look for alternatives who might be up to the job and suit the role. I would do this openly having explained that we are ambitious and want to get the very best. We might end up with worse. I would recognise that as a potential outcome but I would expect the skills of my staff and advisers to be up to the job.

"Considering he's such a connoisseur of the RB Leipzig model, I'm surprised Moyes is so against having a technical director do his job here."
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
In what world do you go around so brazenly 'chumming the waters' for a new hire with an incumbent in place and the decision about the incumbent's on-going position in the role NOT DECIDED?! Maybe in a world where the incumbent is brazenly lying to all and sundry about contract offers.

"Dunno the ins and outs of the unusual (for us) relationships between the chairman, Moyes and the director of football. Throw in other influential board members, plus Nobes in his role as ""sporting director"" (and I don't really know what that entails - but it's probably good that he's still around)...and you do have the recipe for a bit of a shitshow. Add the fact that backroom staff have openly left the club and declared it was because of Moyes' negative playing style (Warburton, for example) and the whole thing is a bit of a shambles that needs tidying up. New manager. New backroom staff. Clarify what Steidten and Noble do and don't do (they may already have done this but it's not clear to many fans). And - who knows - maybe Sullivan finally moves on. There's a lot of crap to sort out. And we've barely started on that soul-less athletics bowl!"

"This basically makes the relationship between Moyes and Steidten untenable. In what world do you go around so brazenly 'chumming the waters' for a new hire with an incumbent in place and the decision about the incumbent's on-going position in the role NOT DECIDED?! Way to embarrassing for all in charge. Imagine the conversations....""We might change managers. If that happens, what would you want, would you want to come to us, etc"". Hopeless and classless....the West Ham Way (or rather, the David Sullivan way)."

"As Ex says I wouldn't read too much into this with just three games left, let's face it they have never got on despite their cozy chats on the touchline."
Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"I don't understand why the club let Moyes say that it was up to him whether or not he stayed and accepted a new contract because I do not believe for one second that that is the case. There is no way Moyes was offered a new contract, however bad the terms (unless it was cleaning the toilets) because there would always be the risk he might accept. There was no need for that, his contract was at an end and there is no way a new one was left on the table for him to sign if he fancied it. Even if it did (which it didn't!!) Steidten and the club have every right to have options in place. Absolutely ridiculous if Moyes now refusing to speak or deal with Steidten (if true).... sooner this season is over the better."

I've seen a few people suggest recently Moyes is going to stay. Everything is suggesting the opposite.

ExWHUEmployee @ExWHUEmployee I think it’s more of a “mutual” agreement that it’s best that whilst Tim is involved with the potential management replacement list it isn’t right he continues to work with the current one…. A manager decision is meant to be made at the end of the season

It's going to be AMORIM . Why is Moyes throwing his toys out the pram otherwise. Only one the club has interviewed so far as well. Forget the initial talks bullshit . Been in talks for well over a month.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"Iraola would most likely be sacked within two years. He has never dealt with the level of expectation our fans, and board, would rightly place on him. His 'high bar' at Bournemouth is keeping them in the Premier League - and he has been measured only against that. That's the difference between somebody like Amorim (and Emery, who we won't prise away from Villa), who expect to be at the top end of leagues, and somebody like Iraola. Our lot would muller him the moment he draws at home to Bournemouth and thinks that's OK."

"I have long believed we should go for the manager of Bournemouth. Iraola has proven himself to be capable of producing an attacking, young and quick side. With more money and greater exposure (which he'd get here for sure) then I am convinced he'd do a fantastic job. Surely to God we can prize away a manager from Bournemouth. I mean, they're not exactly a footballing Mecca. Their stadium is like Man Cities training ground for heavens sake."

"If they sold their best players and he's struggled, then surely that's not a good sign. We need a manager who can adapt to that. We lost Rice last summer, possibly Paqueta this summer, and Kudus maybe the summer after that."

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
"But that's the point, though, isn't it? Depending on the club you're at and the circumstances you faced, you could easily be a good manager at a mid-table club. Boro sold some of their best players last summer, and then had an injury crisis with no money to fund their way out of it. So it's no surprise at all to see Carrick mid-table. Nor do I think it reflects his ability. In fact, he's done well to have them where they are. If you only look at table positions, teams would be clamouring to appoint Moyes. And Leverkusen would never have appointed Alonso. The point is for Premier League clubs to do much more detailed research/analysis - across all leagues. Including here. I think they've fallen out of the habit of looking in England, yet they seem to give disproportionate weight to some weaker leagues (like the Netherlands)."

"southbankbornnbred 2:44 Thu May 2 ''Word is Bayern are working on a package to get Tuchel to stay. If he wins them the Champions League, they will throw silly money at him.'' That sounds odd when they have already said he can go, why would winning this make any difference, they either want him or they don't, plus they were hoping for Rangnick up until just a few hours ago?"
