Well it's a fast turnaround for this one. After a hard fought, but somewhat disappointing point at Old Trafford, we head to the south coast for an arguably more difficult looking game on paper.
Brighton have been a bogey side since they arrived in the division, as well as being the envy of many fans for their progressive owner and stellar recruitment model.
Teamwise, Nuno gets to 'bring' Paqueta back (I won't use the term 'welcome'), and the messaging around Summerville remains opaque at best. Plus as to what happened to Guilherme who knows, but with both him and Igor missing we went from a squad of 3 Braziliians to none versus Man Utd in one fell swoop.
This leaves at least a decision around Soucek, but if Summerville (or Guilherme) were to be available, another decision around 2 of 3 from Fernandes, Magassa, and Potts.
Predicted Lineup
I'm working on the basis that Paqueta will come back in, and Summerville will at best be fit for the bench:
Areola
Wan Bissaka Mavropanos Todibo Diouf
Magassa Potts
Bowen Paqueta Fernandes
Wilson
Subs: Hermansen, Kilman, KWP, Irving, Kante, Earthy, Guilherme, Summerville, Marshall
Predicted Score: Brighton 2 - 1 West Ham
Brighton remain high up in the current form table, scoring twice as many as they concede. West Ham are midtable over the last 5 games, are at a scoring ratio of roughly 1:1.
Hard to see anything but a defeat here, but we have a punchers chance (all be it, the blows themselves are fairly lightweight and will need to find the Brighton chin with surgical precision to knock them out).

Take a defender off and get Wilson and Magassa on now and go for these 3 points.

We've done OK so far, Fernandes has been excellent, Paqueta some nice touches and balls through . But playing like this we need to be clinical and Summerville has been wasteful but maybe just needs one to go in.
Maybe he will bring either Potts or Mugassa on soon to up our energy
Yeah, I noted some lovely touches by Paqueta in that first half. Like when he played a through ball to Summerville which went out for a throw in!
Stop being a cսnt his one misplaced ball, had some lovely touches though I'm not surprised you picked up on the one that didn't come off and no acknowledgement of the ones that did.

Take Rodriguez off while we're level
I think he has to. The only reason I can think he is on is because we have two games in 4 days (some bizarre Squad rotation?) but even that's a stretch because Potts and Magassa young players who should be able to handle it. Potts, Magassa and Wilson on to try and nick it if were still in it.

Summerville instead of placing the shot try just smashing it in.

People always confuse discipline and shape with parking the bus. I have always maintained, being well organised and disciplined defensively while still offering a threat on the break is a very acceptable style. We’ve done that, and had the best chances.
It’s better than when Lopetegui had us looking like we’d concede on every attack against us.

Apparently this is the first game all season where Brighton haven’t had a shot on target in the 1st half. So we must be doing something right. Considering Summerville had a great chance, Paq forced a great save etc.

Summerville cant finish we knew that. We cannot create or score enough. Low block relying on turnovers and countering but you got to take the chances. Bowen always has to shift it to his left foit and Summerville as mentioned no end product
Just waiting for them to get ahead because thats what it feels like and then we have to take risks

Not bad but we’re not clinical enough.
Hope we don’t regret missed opportunities.

Not a bad half for us in summary and did well to contain against a free scoring Brighton team while also seeing more of the ball and probably should even be in front. Long way to go feel they will up their game second half.

Done ok without offering much in way of chances but without trying to sound like a broken record Rodriguez offers absolutely nothing offensively or defensively, I'd swap him for Potts or Magassa.

Both teams look very poor to me
could actually get something out of this if we put our best players on the pitch
Won’t hold my breath though

Poor half yet again. Nuno has parked the bus, again, and we are resorting to long balls.
His tactics are more sour than Moyes'.

Not sure about some of the other selections but I will say Diouf and Wan-Bissaka fit in very well at wingback.

I’d play Summerville every match as he’s fast and there’s no better option, but his end product is diabolical

Need an end product from Summerville, Bowen probably buries that.
