I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Glad we got a bit of luck finally.

We may also have fell into a formation that works, sometimes a bit of luck is all you need to change things. 

If they next game we set up and play how we did second half, then great, if not, then he really is clueless. 

That first half was as bad as I've seen us all season.  Man Utd should have put us to bed by half time.

And that was never a pen.  I'd have been absolutely livid had that been given against us.  I always feel we never get the rub of the green with officials, so to have that decision, against Man Utd of all teams, makes it all the more sweeter.

After the first 9 matches we have 11 points on the board and it's true to say we haven't played consistently well yet. Only sporadically amongst a fair bit of shit, understandably for me considering the high turnover of staff and an ambitious new way of playing.

What encourages me is that Lopetegui has had to navigate through a tough opening set of fixtures whilst managing his new Team in the Premier League;

Man City, Villa, Man Utd, Ipswich, Chelsea, Spurs, Brentford, Fulham, Palace - 5 London Derbies for your 1st set of Fixtures! (And 4 of those 5 were Away from home)

In that context 11 points is a good base to build from.

The next 9 matches that take us up to Christmas at the halfway point just before the window reopens consists of; 

Forest, Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal, Leicester, Wolves, Bournemouth, Brighton, Southampton

There's a real opportunity now for Lopetegui to build some momentum with a far more favourable set of fixtures where he can further instill more belief and confidence in the side. Also an easier set of fixtures for the Team to better implement his ideas. 

 Reasons to be a bit more optimistic looking forward and then take stock of where we are at just before the transfer windows opens should we need to offload/call back/sign someone new.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if we are allowed to call any of our loanees back, or are they all tied down to their current Clubs from the entire season? I'm talking in particular about Ward-Prowse, who I never agreed we should have loaned out. I think we could do with him as another midfield option, our loss is currently Forests gain. 

Good result for him. I lost confidence in him last week but I was very happy to see him celebrating after the win. He bloody deserved that feeling. Despite some of our performances, its very clear that he is working hard and is desperate to be successful. Can't knock him for that. 

I hope this win ignites us and he turns it around. Not too late in the season to make a run for the Euro spots, but we need to take six points from next two before international break to do that. 

There is still loads to get right. We are too easy to play through, CB's and FB's are too disconnected, not enough pace in midfield. But the Manc win can give us the springboard.

Some posters are desperate for us to lose, just so they can claim to be right.

Even when we win he still deserves to be sacked.

2 wins in 3 with signs of trying to play Football is evident. 

I feel that once he gets to play a more settled best XI, we'll start playing more consistently. It's still not going to be smooth sailing yet but slowly and surely we should get there. Matches are certainly a lot more entertaining and not just backs to the wall shit game after game like it once was.
 

Sullivan is never gonna sack him in a million years after winning 

although for me, the players coming on in the second half show just how clueless he is, as they all should of been starting 

I really don’t understand his reluctance to play both Summerville and Ings.
Summerville scored and caused their back line all sorts of problems, also chased down balls that Soler would never be able to get to
and technically Ings got 2 assists, both were pretty lucky but he manages to get far more involved in the box than Antonio ever does, whilst mentioning Antonio it’s also gotta be said his passing ability is painful to watch now 

not entirely convinced Todibo had a knock either, 45 mins is quite a long time to bring on a player who isn’t 100% and didn’t look like he had any problem either,
his introductory also made a massive difference, in the first half Fernandes was playing the ball over the top every time he got the ball and Mavropanos couldn’t deal with it, early second half with Todibo now on, Fernandes tried to play that ball over the top again and Todibo cut it out easily, Fernandes didn’t bother trying it again after that

No better than our worst under Moyes.

This win takes a bit of pressure off him, but he is still a long way away from proving he deserves to be here.

Nothing has improved.

He’s been kept in the job by a bloke he refuses to start 

the difference it made was huge 

this is my issue with Lopetegui, his constantly bizarre starting line ups are costing us 
it didn’t today due to Man Utd’s awful finishing in the first half 

if he could just select a starting XI with players playing in their correct positions we’d be doing a lot better
