"Nagel 12:49 Thu May 23 Not sure I get the logic of flogging our best defender last year. And there's no chance we'll be spending £35m on Maasten, I reckon. Emerson is the most we've ever spent on a fullback, and I bet Sullivan shit his pants over that."

Manuel - Yeah agree hard to get excited and I feel a lot of our signings will feel the same as our budget will need to be spread quite sparingly. But at least we're moving early and seem to have a plan and we don't have Moyes.

"I can hear Tim warming up the camera man and getting ready to fly the boys over... ""Julio get the Jet!"""

"""We won't be signing Maatsen, when we've just resigned Cresswell."" Don't know about that. I expect that we'll be looking to offload Emerson, assuming that Lopetegui continues to prefer full backs who can run the flanks, provide width and deliver crosses, none of which Emerson seems able to do."

"Dinos was billed as a no nonsense CB too. Kind of with Stowie on this one, yes it may turn out to be a coup, but a 28 year old CB from the Brazilan league ain't gonna excite me I'm afraid. Oh and that's MY opinion before any starts the usual arguing, rebutting bollocks."

"We don’t need a 4th choice CB though, we need 2 starters with Dinos & Zouma being back up really, let Oggy go & Sell Aguerd. Centre half is a major problem and can’t really be doing with punts from a pony league, you’d think he’d been picked up earlier than 28 as well. Look hope it works for the fella but really hope we spend big on at least 1 CB."

"Looks like a no nonsense character when playing….we need a bit that of after Dawson going, going to treat it like his signing as well….the pros know best….."

"Yes, apparently Cresswell has agreed a 12 month extension, Antonio may be staying as well from what I have read, hopefully both are for back up purposes and squad depth!"

"I've not been keeping up-to-date, has Cresswell signed an extension? I like the idea of having a centre half called Bruno."

As it stands I would think the Brazilian is coming in as a 4th choice if he can push himself to 1st choice after a couple of months- perfect. I would still like another Cb to come in.

"I actually liked our last centre half signed from the Brazilian league. Murillo at Forest has also done ok. Bet Milan regret signing 25 year old Thiago Silva from the Brazilian league too. What’s not to like? Hard bastard South American at £12m. Low risk, can’t be worse than what we’ve seen this season!"

Played against England recently and had a very good game by all accounts. Supposed to be a big fast lump who can play.

Ian Maatsen available for 35 million We should be all over that if we could convince him to come.

"Dont know the guy from a bar of soap but he is a Brazil international available for about £13m I trust in Tim's judgement and we have some holes to fill with a certain amount of cash. Kehrers fee pays for him. I think Aguerd can improve in his second PL season as should Mavropanos Ogbonna is off and reckon Zoumas knee is fucked so happy if we are looking at this bloke, Kilman (who the manager knows) & Greaves of Hull"

"Stowie may like a moan but I hear him, a 28 year old CB from Brazil seems underwhelming, nobody wanted him before? Could go either way if it goes through. Doubt he will be our main CB signing though, suspect we are very keen on Kilman."

"Didn’t watch it but believe this Bruno played in Brazils 1-0 win v England at Wembley Anyone notice him? Sounds like a Zouma replacement, physical & 28 (good age for a centre half)"

"First article from April… West Ham director of football Tim Steidten flew directly to Brazil on a scouting mission, the club has revealed… The Brazil market is a good one to invest in as it represents value for money. Once a South American player is signed by a European team, their value rockets, so there are hidden gems to be had if a club purchases directly from Brazil. Steidten was the recruitment director under Simon Rolfes at Bayer Leverkusen and will be acutely aware of the quality available in South America. Piero Hincapie and Exequiel Palacios are hugely important members of Xabi Alonso’s squad, and their roster also boasts Brazilians and Colombians. If the Hammers are following the Leverkusen model, then that’s no bad thing."

"Tim was the one that was out in Brazil recently. We are in for this CB, Wesley (that everyone seems in for) and another one that Alf mentioned (think he was a wing back). It was a strategy that was mentioned a while back that the next generation of Brazilians are unreal and untapped at the moment so we are making our move (not that this bloke is next generation but could have spotted him whilst scouting) Don’t worry about Stowie, he loves a moan about absolutely everything."

"Yeah just as I thought, it’s Pellegrini all over again with Lopetegui. Absolutely no way should we be signing centre halfs from Brazil, this is what we’re gonna get again, aload of risky signings."

"West Ham United are set to secure their first signing under Julen Lopetegui, as Brazil defender Fabricio Bruno has agreed to join the club from Flamengo, according to Brazilian journalist Vene Casagrande. Casagrande’s post on X [22 May] details that Bruno has agreed a five-year contract at the London Stadium, with West Ham set to pay a fee of around £12.8m for his services"

Hope this is true about Ferdi Kadioglu. He looks quality and very two footed so he can play on either flank. He's naturally right footed but this season he's mainly played as a LB. Can play higher up the pitch as well. Obvious fly in the ointment being that Arsenal and Leverkusen are supposed to be about to bid for him as well.
