"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"to a certain extent, the fan channels create hype about certain names over many weeks (some channels copying other channels info) and it's done to such an extent that it causes hysteria income of these names get picked. I watch most of these channels, but I also listen to the pro analysts and sites like the draft network. personally, if rather have had Trey McBride or one of the LBs but the decision was made, get the fuck on with it üòÅ"

"Two good players, those, TM. The DT was highly regarded and I think you nicked him ahead of some play-off contenders."

"yet more meltdowns from a big percentage of the commanders fanbase. I've no doubt there were better players available, but the coach wanted a DT and drafted one of the Alabama captains. I don't think Saban hands out those roles to wastes of space/bums but clearly the thick part of the fanbase knows better. we also signed another Alabama bum, in running back Brian Robinson (2021 - 1600 total yards from scrimmage and 16 TDs!. I expect a further five nervous breakdowns at the end of tonight üòÇ"

"Feckin' hell - Jets having a stormer. Traded up in round 2 to take the best dual-threat running back in the draft. Now have Breece Hall and Carter at RB, a decent O-line and two good young receivers in Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore. They're going all in on offensive weapons. Zach Wilson will have no excuses if this fails over the next few years. He's surrounded by talent. They're all young - drafted in 2021 and 2022. So it'll take a while. But Douglas and Saleh have put some potentially big building blocks in place. Best draft we've had since the early 2000s, when we got extra picks because of Bill Napkin."

TM - Dotson has amazing hands and agility. Some of his catches in traffic are mind-boggling. All he lacks is size. And a few receivers have shown that's not always important. He'll do well with a decent QB.

"Grump - the entire NFL-watching community was split over who should be the #1 pick this year...so the surprise was probably more on the faces of Jags fans! Travon Walker is a fine player (versatile, too) and he will have a good career. But I wouldn't say he was the best player in the draft. I reckon there were three or four I'd have picked above him. Others will disagree. His college career was solid, rather than spectacular and he benfited from being on a D-line that also contained Jordan Davis (who, as TM said, is also a fine player who has gone to the Eagles). He only had six sacks last season, just one in his sophomore year. Many tackles, though. His draft stock shot up because of his performance at the combine, which is always a risky gauge."

"Jets offered #10 spot (which we used on Garrett Wilson) and another pick to 49ers for Deebo. I think we did in safe in the knowledge that it would be turned down, which it was, and then we'd have a clean conscience about taking Wilson at #10. I'm pleased we drafted the kid, even though Samuel is one heck of a player. It will allow us to build a little more slowly - and Samuel probably merits going to a play-off contender (which we are not...yet)."

"Too right - there's a LOT of talent still left on the board. Rnd 2 will be interesting, but rounds 3 and 4 this year will also hold some genuine immediate starters. Look out for guards in Rnd 3. Some huge bookends kicking about. Good GMs and scouts will be worth their weight in gold today. Some half-decent QBs to come: people who were definitely not first-rounders but who, in others years, would already have been picked. For once, the league has been sensible about QBs - meaning there are good opps for teams to pick up 'cheaper' play-callers who could gradually develop into starters, or push established names for the starting spot: Corrall, Willis, Howell, Ridder etc."

"I loved Wilson and I think you've got the full package with him, ready to go and be your WR1 right now. We'd have loved him, or Hamilton but that massive gap after our pick at 113 - not picking again until round six forced our hand. It's such a talent wealthy draft (depth wise), you can't really be missing out on the third/fourth round. tonight I hope we get the TE McBride (someone will beat us to it üòÇ) @ 47 and one of the remaining linebackers (Chenal, Muma, Anderson) or the Maryland safety Nick Cross in R3"

"Douglas (GM) just said that the Jets landed 3 of what they considered to be the top 8 players in the entire draft. He's probably wrong about the top 8. But, if they truly felt that, then I can totally understand why they came up the board to get Johnson at #26. It was well known that Saleh likes the look of that kid and it was even suggested we might take him with the #10 pick. Ended up getting him late in the first round. Fucking weird, the draft. The logic is usually skewed by the league's fixation with QBs. But you can't even argue that this year. Just a draft packed full of very big, very strong athletes on offensive lines, defensive lines, corners...plus a fine set of receivers. It's a deep draft pool, rather than one packed with obvious superstars. Travon Walker going at #1 shows that - many people would have put him top #10, but not necessarily #1. He only had six sacks last season."

"TM - Yeah, Davis is a brick wall - but one that runs after you, rather than just stands there run-blocking. He's a big lad with quick feet for a lump. Good pick. If we didn't already have Williams, we might have been in for him. The only thing Washington might find problematic with Dotson is his lack of size. He has great hands - as good as anybody in the draft, but he's under 6ft. No issue with that if he's going to be used in the slot and at #2WR. But if they're thinking about primary receivers then he lacks a bit of size. That said, Wilson (our WR pick) is not much over 6ft and he most likely will be the primary target. The issue is that cornerbacks are getting bigger. Used to be the case that you'd draft corners at 5ft 9 with a huge leap (people like Aaron Glenn). Now the corners flying off the board are like Sauce - he's 6ft 2 and 190lbs+. Stingley, the #3 pick, is 6ft 1."

"love our pick, he's very similar in character & style to Terry Mclaurin but with even better hands. hate to say it, but I think the best pick in round one was the Eagles taking Jordan Davis"

"Best 'value' in the draft so far... Baltimore Ravens: Hamilton at safety is one of the best players in the entire draft and, talent-wise, easily a top ten player. Drafted at #14 because safeties are not glamorous. Giants: Thibodeaux at #5 is a steal. Arguably the best player in the draft. Then they land the best OT at #7. Norlenz: Olave at #11 is a fine receiver and Penning (OT) will ensure Olave gets plenty of time to make catches. Jets: Primarily because we landed Johnson, a fucking beast, at #26. Ridiculous for a player of his size and potential. We all thought he would be off the board before then. Our two high picks are fine choices, but it's hard to argue they represent 'value'. Johnson does. Packers: Wyatt is a nailed on NFL starter at DT. Again, hard to imagine how he fell to #28 Patsies: Cole Strange is a riock solid guard. Improbves most starting lines, especially for a #29."

"What worries me slightly about Gardner - who is a very fine CB - is that I've seen some of his college games and he is very aggressive, very physical and often a bit hands-on. There's a feeling that he got away with a lot of pass interference in college because he's a spectacular player who hits hard and people wanted to see him because he was a big drawer in that conference. Some experts feel he'll get a lot of pass interference calls in the NFL. So he might have to adjust his game slightly. But I like his natural aggression in that position. And he's a ball hawk."

"Very good first round for the Jets. The third pick (#26) was a trade-up, so one that Joe Douglas and Rob Saleh had to create it - and they did it to land a player they were not expecting still to be on the board (Johnson). We addressed our three biggest needs out of many needs we have, so the moves were sensible and positive. We still have massive holes in the roster, though. My only slight concern - and it's only very slight - is that we took Gardner (CB) ahead of Thibodeaux (DE/OLB). We needed to fill both positions with high-quality players, and we have done that, but I just have a sneaky feeling that the Giants have landed the best player in the draft in Thibodeaux. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't buy the late/post-workout nonsense about Thibodeaux's lack of commitment to the sport. He was immense at college level - the best player in all of college football. That said, Gardner is a strong CB and we desperately needed one. And we did later address the DE position by trading up for Johnson (who we thought would go around #18 to #20). Douglas couldn't believe his luck when Johnson was still on the board. Best of all, we now have a proper primary receiver in Garratt Wilson. Potentially the best WR in the class. I just hope we have somebody decent to coach him, because his talent and potential are immense. Wilson to Wilson could get interesting next season. Good draft for the Giants, too. Maybe, just maybe, they got it right in Gotham this time (a rare occurence...)."
