I kind of agree Vexed but I do think that we need to give him some time. It seems that Moyes left his mark on these players and the new manager needs to change the mindset and attitude of the current players as well as bringing in the new players. I was prepared to give him time before the season kicked off so I'm when I'm watching us at the moment I'm just reminding myself not to panic even if I am seeing some of the old problems.

"I had a bit of confidence in Loppers prior to that last night, fucking hell if that was a game he really wanted to win then that's fucking depressing. Made an absolute mess of it. Definitely a midfielder short and probably a striker too. Wan Bissaka and Kilman look very good though."

"What are the actual rules for the teams in europe? Understand they come in a round later, which isn't new and don't have any real issue with this. But is it in the rules that they cannot play each other and will all get home draws?"

"That draw was mental. I don't think even the ""Sky 6"" supporters are in favour of it. I expect it to stay, if that's the case. I don't think if it would bother me if they sacked off the whole competition now, and I used to quite like it. They've fucked around with it way too much. At least the draw wasn't on at 4am like it was a few years ago."

"Not a surprise we are still struggling to keep and retreive the ball with a midfield that features both Soucek and JWP, a striker that is not mobile and needs players around him and decent service. We need to be better in midfield for a start. As mentioned, Loppy seems to be blinded by Soucek’s ability to get on the end of things and help with defensive set pieces and not noticing he is anonymous and weakens the team overall by preventing our ability to play thru midfield and press the opposition. JWP is just carried every game now and has to be shipped out. Soucek needs to be an impact sub when we need something different and while he starts I take it as a sig we are not attempting or at least cannot progress. The need for this Soler or someone other than Paqueta to play thru is critical imo. A quick strong forward ( like Duran ) another “must have” option if we are to meet expectations and make Euro placings or at least be in contention for them. Other observations? Same as last 12-24 months. Not enough pace and movement, pressing and the inadequacy of Coufal, Soucek and JWP. The German is, like Haller and Scamacca, not quick and not being supported and thus isolated / anonymous for long periods. Fingers crossed we do some more business b4 the window closes to address tue remaining problems that have dogged us for the last 2.5 seasons in the league"

"An absolute fix. I was there last season with the other 6000 (in fairness I live approx 4 miles from Anfield) and left when it was 3-0. I hate the ground, the club, getting there, getting back and the fact we’ve won once there since the 60s. I just hope the scoreline is respectable, unlike what the Scottish surrender monkey served up last season."

Can't have minnows getting too far - no Asian market for games involving non-PL teams.
recent match mixing in lower leagues suggests otherwise

A win is a win but I have concerns over our set-up, especially the midfield.

But you and the knicker wetters promised me a new style, new players and more excitement. All I’ve seen so far is Moyes mkII.
Ill give Loppy a couple of months to sort it out.
Odd post. Looks like there's a hefty group of supporters who are now already trying to prove a point. End of the day the new manager and this new squad are going to take a while to get going properly. There were even people saying after our first game "Nothing has changed". Quite frankly its fucking pathetic.

"As for the Mickeys, bring em on. Under new boss Slot they don't scare me. Winnable tie with our side and if I recall Lopeteguis relegation threatened Wolves side he newly took over gave them a proper game in the Cup which was when I was 1st impressed with how he was managing in England under difficult circumstances."

Wan-Bissaka has pleasantly surprised me how good he's been so far. Never thought he was rubbish but some of his work has impressed me already. I wanted the other one that went to Man Utd that we chased but more than happy with the one Man Utd kicked out the door so to make room for him and at a reasonable price too. Hopefully he'll be just as consistent now and stays away from the treatment room.

Cant believe the corrupt rules to make sure top sides cant play each other. Its heavily rigged in their favour. That's not competition. Hope we have improved by the time we play Liverpool. We have the talent but they dont have the movement or bravery on the ball.

"There's fixing a competition by surreptitiously making sure certain teams avoid each other in the draw, then there's fixing a competition blatantly by putting that in the actual rules. Fucking ridiculous."

"That was a hard watch tonight, looked like an end of season game at times. As for the draw, how are we supposed to take this seriously when the 'big' clubs are purposely kept apart from the off?"
