"Both Alvarez and Movrapanos are huge and are real weapons at corners. Add them to Soucek, Aguerd, Zouma and Antonio / new striker and we are going to get a lot of goals from corners with JWP's delivery. In fact I wouldn't put it past Moyes going to three at the back just so he has another towering CB on the pitch for corners."

Was underwhelmed when we signed him but understood why Moyes would like him. His crossing and passing are going to be assets that’s for sure. Just need to bring in a couple of players with a bit of pace to play with him.

It was a very tidy debut even without the assists.

"Set pieces are one thing, but that instinctve first time pass that ended up being his second assist was brilliant. He's a player, alright."

It’s like having Jonny Wilkinson stepping up for a set piece. We will get a lot of joy from them.

"Went to the training ground with the kids on Monday. JWP was the last out - most players were done by 1pm, got 3pm before he came out. Stopped, happy to do countless photos, sign everything anyone wanted, came across as a lovely guy. Honourable mention to Coufal and Souchek as well. As for Antonio… no words."

JAMES WARD PROWSE MY LORD JAMES WARD PROWSE! Expecting him to surprise quite a few and for him to be a solid player for the next 4 years at us. Give him the armband.

Seems a decent lad in his welcome videos. Mrs WP doesn't seem awful either.

"Not sure of the signing of relegated players. Although past his best now, Fabianksi, signed from relegated Swansea, has been excellent."

Crassus 7:54 Mon Aug 14 Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally) Mark Noble + 10 set piece goals would be an outstanding player in any side in the league.

"Utilitarian signing, a modern Noble with a better free kick but lacking the accent Nothing to get excited about and apart from the free kicks, will be a proven liability when Moyes finally gets shot"

Agree we need to keep Paqueta Nothing we can do next summer when his £85m buyout kicks in but dont think its unreasonable for us to follow Brighton's example with Caicedo in asking something well over that if they are desperate to have him now Amrabat needs to wake up and smell the coffee Best way into the big clubs these days is often impressing for a 'smaller' club and proving you can handle the Prem league

"stewie griffin 7:04 Mon Aug 14 Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally) I thought he was more of a spraying the ball around the pitch style midfielder. It was when I was watching a YT video talking about his pending purchase and they mention he wasn't. More in the mould of a Noble type (during open play), slows the game down and usually short passing sideways and backwards. I still think he could do well for us and as long as people don't think we're getting some type of Hoddle type of passer then I think we'll take to him as he works hard and does seem to be consistent in his output. Plus when one of his free kicks goes in, should get bums of seats!"

Welcome aboard. A nice replacement for Lanzini. McTominay would be a nice upgrade to Soucek. Add some pace to the midfield and we’ll be on heading in the right direction. Gotta keep Paqueta though.

"haven't looked at his stats...was thinking more about the (at least) 3 times he played our midfield off the park... 2016 & 2021, think the other was 2014"
