Mubama turns down contract extension?

Post El Scorchio »

"Just saw on twitter. Don't know if at all accurate. Unless he's had his heart set on a move regardless for some time and there's nothing we could have done anyway, then this is absolutely maddening. If it's down to not getting game time then i really don't blame him. On the face of it, it's an utter joke how little he's played this season."

Maybe the board are happy with the returns they get from training kids up to sub-Premier League level every year and simply selling them on (at a profit). The one that steps up to the line and into the first team for the club is the once-in-every-10-years exception. Rice has simply covered out the last 10 years.

There are seven minutes left on the clock. Antonio is knackered. Who do you bring on? Danny “hair transplant” Ings. A player who has not scored in the Premier League since February. Just how bad can Mibama be? The young lad must feel very frustrated.

"unrealistic terms = wanting 1 minute of Premier League experience He's 19, got a European medal around his next, a FA Youth Cup medal around his next, he's our current Young Hammer of the year. He's been treated appallingly so far this season."

Obviously we want to keep Mubama but Callum Marshall seems to be regarded by many as a better prospect... I haven't seen enough of either to form an opinion. Will be interesting to see who plays for the U21 in the EFL Trophy at Newport tonight as arguably these games give the U21s their most competitive outings but presumably anyone playing won't be involved on Thursday. Will be interesting to see if Moyes considers the League Cup too much of a distraction and fields a weakened team.

Interesting that both Moyes and Mubama will be leaving at the end of the season.

"Moyes’s handling of Mubama is absolutely criminal If you’re going to give a youth team player a chance then striker is the least risky position to try out, goalkeeper and defender obviously being the most risky if they have a mare What Moyes can’t see is that his two first choice strikers are currently playing Sunday league standard Mubama could have the worst game of his life and he still wouldn’t be any worse It’s literally a no loss situation I can only assume Moyes won’t play him as if he did and he had a brilliant game and scored it would show how clueless Moyes has been to ignore him all season Another factor Moyes doesn’t even consider is that over the years there’s been a few youngsters in the premier league that have been thrown into games due to selection issues and these youngsters weren’t highly rated but thrived under the pressure I believe Rashford at Man Utd was low down their pecking order but due to others being out on loan and injuries he was given his chance and that didn’t work out too badly for him"

"Alwaysaniron 12:38 Tue Oct 31 You're probably not aware, but we've our U23's finished 2nd to City in the league not so long ago, and the season just gone we won the FA youth Cup. It would be a travesty if none of these players make it at WHU because of the managers shitty treatment of the youths."

"If i was Mubama my concerns would be: 1. money 2. game time money i'm sure west ham offer a very decent wedge, but so would most other half decent clubs who would be interested in someone with his scoring record. game time? what game time? poor lad can't even get a look-in when we are at our worst. i'd look at that centre forward position and see what Moyes has done to previous top level strikers. that position is a graveyard under Moyes. even if he isn't good enough, the lad needs to given the chnace to prove that. we already know Ings isn't good enough because we've seen it."

"The 'Acadamy' is something we hold dear and we as fans watch these youngsters through claret tinted glasses. In reality how many of our youngsters make it? Even when we let them go, where do they end up and how many have we been able to point at and say ""Told you so, he's quality him"". Let's see the list before we hang the club out to dry for letting players leave in droves."

Fair enough Mike. From that one single pre-season game they played together it makes perfect sense that you thought they were building a game changing partnership that would have somehow completely fucked Moyes' tactical preferences even though he weren't there at the time.
