Are we heading for another war?

"There are a few million horrible cunts on this planet that deserve to die, but why is it always us and the US that has to spend billions killing them? We're already fucked economically, and the worst off are suffering with high energy prices, inflation, and reductions in benefits, whilst we send millions of pounds of weapons and aid to Ukraine, and we're now dipping our noses into fighting the Houthi's, aka, Iran. Maybe it's time to look after our own, rather than trying to police the world?"

"There were extremely slow moves to reinstate the JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran. Slow, but in the right direction. Saudi Arabia and Iran were back on talking terms, sort of. The war in Yemen was petering out. That combination didn't suit one countries NARRATIVE."

"It’s the global reactionaries led by the Kremlin who have declared war on the international order; hence all the wet work being done in Ukraine, Syria and all over the world. Meanwhile there are interests and proxy wars like what we have Gaza, Yemen and hopefully not soon Lebanon. If you are feeling confused, start with the basics."

"Yep I get that, sometimes it's a case of be careful what you wish for. Lavrov always reminds me of a Bond Villain!"

"Its why I always wonder why our globalist masters want to to overthrow Putin, he's a comparative moderate out there. When he goes, at best you will get Lavrov or Peskov, but more lilkely it will be Medvedev or another headbanger who the KGB can control"

"Rios - Medvedev and his constant nuclear threats, I am pretty sure it's the vodka with him."

"Zico, agree with that. I must admit her and Medvedev are a bit spicy at their press conferences and social media. But, its one of the things I like about Slavs (not Gopnik obviously), they don't fuck about or mince their words."

Rios fair enough but coming from the Russians it's all a bit pot and kettle!

"To be honest, it could be argued that the British Empire and it's management structure kept the lid on the political pressure cooker in many regions of the world, allowing them to buy time to find a long term peaceful solution. What's that phrase? ""Be careful what you wish for."" Late to the party and wrong event in both cases."

"zico I get where you are coming from, but taken on its own, her comment is valid. An international coalition has bombed a third party without a UN vote. Not sure why they didn't go for a vote in the UNSC, or at least put it before each country's parliament. I'm sure it would have sailed through the parliaments and probably had a veto or abstention at worst at the UNSC"

"Maria Zakharova said the strikes showed a ""complete disregard for international law"" Funniest comedian since Eric Morecambe. Hilarious Russians talking about International Law, I wonder if they really know what they are saying half the time, must be the vodka!"

"The next step of course is to acknowledge that someone else is doing most of the hard, nasty deadly stuff for you at the moment."" Its called 'wet work' and I'm pretty tired of our govts flying around the world, apologising for our ancestors who built something quite fucking brilliant and at the same time causing wars, killing millions of people and causing unrest, poverty and energy insecurity. All on our pound/dollar/euro!"

"Actually you might have noticed that we’ve been at war since at least 2014 and this is just another theatre of operations. The next step of course is to acknowledge that someone else is doing most of the hard, nasty deadly stuff for you at the moment. For the time being."

I remember Colin Mitchell and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Aden.

"One of my cousins was stationed in Aden before moving on to Singapore during his army service. Said it was one of the nicest places to go on the service roster. We left, he said, and the locals, between themselves, fucked it up - just like Beirut/The Lebanon among other places."

The civil war in Yemen was on it's way to pretty much finally ending around 6 months back. Funny old game.

"Although the Houthi’s are attacking shipping I believe they are in an internal war with their own government that is backed by Saudi Arabia, so in a sense we are keeping on the right side of the Saudi’s. Could be because they have lots of sand!!"

"Rumford. Agree. All well and good saying don't do it or else. At some point you've got to follow through. No point saying ""if you attack those commercial ships we're gonna be very angry... and write a letter"" The whole thing's reminding me of team America world police to be honest. Pussies dicks and asshoels"

So should we not protect commercial shipping. We issued enough warnings. Good job some people on here weren't around in World War2

"At what level of military response is the bar set before the government has to put it to the HoC to step up hostilities? The Houthis are well ensconced in southern Yemen and are backed military by Iran. Our joint approach with the USA could well be subject to mission creep and if this happens Parliament in general, and not just this government, needs to be consulted."

I find it difficult to believe that our government have decided to do this.

"Hopefully not. Current tactics from the ""developed"" (Hah!) nations seem to be to take out the enemy's infrastructure and let internal civil unrest take care of all the dirty work. Take control of the oceans/supply chains and starve a nation into submission. Sound familiar? Russia has (HAS) to side with Iran, and by default the Houtis, unless it gives up on the Ukraine. BRICS will try and fail to play the neutral joker. The French and Italians have already started practicing running backwards. Time looks ripe for China to make a grab for Taiwan though and maybe North Korea to resume unfettered hostilities with the south. The big worry is if one side decides it's got nothing to lose by going nuclear - then nowhere is really safe."
