"Universal Basic Income £2,000 for EVERYONE no means testing."

Post J.Riddle »

"They are conducting UK trials in Finchley and Jarrow where they pay £1600.00 per month to see how it effects people's mental health and see if they bother to work. It has been reported that the real rate if to come into effect would be £2,000 per month. Benefits have already increased over the last decades encouraging and paying people not to work effectively. Those employed have to earn £70,000 gross salary (£48,575 take home pay) to get the same as a family on benefits. We can see this is a deliberate policy. There will be a tax on the AI/Robots that will take people's jobs to pay for the UBI. Eventually there will be no jobs for humans except the elite who will own all the AI Robot operated corporations and will control. Everyone shall get what their given and be grateful. Complain and you will get your benefits taken away like Communist China and your family will starve. Is this the start of Communism as everyone will get the same income benefits? Would be interesting to know what people think about this massive change in society coming soon and which we can do nothing about apparently."

"Lots of arguments for or against UBI First is the removal of the welfare state and the huge machine around it . Divide that cost by working age population and it pretty much evens out. This should see reduction in crime No need for homelessness No need for starvation No need for dying of cold etc All stuff that a civilised and developed country should be proud of achieving. You also get the opportunity for innovative and collaborative people who might have been forced into dead end jobs to work together, pool resources and come up with amazing ideas and inventions that would otherwise had died in their imaginations as they sat in the call centre. Yes there will be people sat on their arse as there is now - at least this way those working hard won’t have to read the Mail and get jealous that someone else has a flat screen TV and smokes yet doesn’t work. Of course your UBi will have stoppages for NI, housing etc. Now the downside It’s highly likely that UBI will also be accompanied with a debt forgiveness programme - basically resetting us all back to zero Most people will get excited and jump at the chance. The cost is - no ownership of assets So your mortgage gets paid off and you have £2k a month free money - yay! However you don’t own your house and when the government deems it too big for you they will move you to a different cell and move others in. There is no such thing as a free lunch"

"Once the cost of administering benefits reaches a certain level, it becomes cheaper to simply dish out a wad of money to each person in the country. What they then do with that money is entirely down to them. Some will save it, others buy more leisure time and yet others will simply piss it up the wall (and complain it's not enough to cover their chosen lifestyle). I hope that they deploy effective checks & balances when it is introduced though - don't really want to see another Covid scenario where the whole world, let alone the population of the UK, were given virtually anything they asked for."

"Seeing that it was indeed a communist (Marx? Lenin?) who said 'work exists to stop people going mad', I would guess most of you would find it very hard to spend 24 hours a day busying themselves and even spending all that time with your missus and kids. How many times have you heard someone say 'I had two weeks off with the flu and didn't know what to do with myself - I'm glad to be back at work '? No, work will continue to be the curse of the drinking classes, to paraphrase another Communist dictator."

it is a very small trial sponsored by a think tank. Nothing to your knickers in a twist about let alone post it on football forum.
