Do you reckon Southgate still picks Phillips for the Euros?

"Despite him being unbelievably dogshit, I bet he does. It’s a joke how poor he’s been today. Imagine being that bad Moyes actually hooks you at half time."

If he does he is even more of a cսnt than I thought he was.

"Southgate reminds me very much of Moyes. Prefers a defensive approach, stubborn on player selection. We really do have a great squad for this tournament but i'm sure he will find a way to leave out the likes of Foden to accommodate Henderson."

"I hope they are going back to 23 man squads, also seem to recall waistcoat saying he didn't like 26 man squads. Fwiw, I would take Palmer."

If Phillips had come and was ticking over looking half way competent he would be in. Southgate has painted himself into a corner by not looking at alternatives & presume he will go with his favourites in the upcoming friendlies. The only chance for alternatives .... Mainoo of ManU maybe ... is if the title contenders invent injuries to rest their players JWP had no chance when he was playing well so with his current form can book a June holiday Reckon Bowen will be squeezed out due to the alternatives already in and Cole Palmer is the only late likely entry One of the problems is I believe they go back to traditional 23 man squads after the 26 of recent tournaments Cant waste a place

Phillips ruined his chances of England spot when he moved to West Ham. Even if he was ripping up trees for us he wouldn't go. Your England spots are based on who you play for under the parsnip faced cսnt.

"Out of interest why does Southgate need to travel to Holland to whatch Henderson, with all the tv, data etc he could WFH and pick his squad that way, also, Sterling is a certainty with Southgate in charge."

Read somewhere that Southgate has gone to see Henderson in 3 matches already. Not sure how Southgate can justify taking Philips. he is way off the pace and will be back at Leeds come the summer whether they come up or not.

"All I would say is that Pep Guardiola obviously knows his footballers. Phillips was playing great when he signed for City but has suffered injuries, came back from England's WC campaign overweight and generally has been ignored for first team chances ever since. His errors in his first few games cost us results and now he's come back to get benched at half time. It is highly possible that Phillips has lost his mojo like Lingard did. Never mind as he's probably well comforted by his £millions in the bank..."

JWP and Phillips can forget England while playing in a Moyes team. They will be challenged to make the first 11 and Phillips needs to put a lot of work in over the summer and find a new club

You beat me to it Sydney_Iron. Ross Barclay every time for me rather than Philips or Henderson. Whether Southgate can manage to pick a Luton player though is another matter. He seems to be a younger version of Moyes to me.

"And perhaps Waitcoat should consider Ross Barkley instead of Phillips since he's been playing well for Luton in a deep midfield role. But would never happen, a player for Luton! perish the thought, no matter how good won't be on Southgate's radar."

"Just looked him up, City pay him 165 bags a week and he has a 6-year deal!!!! that's over 50M he will earn over the course of his contract. fuck me some people are lucky. Will Southgate pick him though? Saddens me to say it but i won't be surprised if he does."

"Apart from the fact he is basically shit, he doesn't appear to have any presence or character on the pitch. Couple that with his slight build and silly hair cut it's like having a fucking youth team player out there. Compare that to when Alvarez come on, he grabbed hold of the game, was dominant and aggressive. Moyes needs to be brought to task over this disaster, and sending Downes out just rubs salt in the wound."

"No idea, still a way to go yet, but wouldn't be surprised. Suspect it will be one of Philips or Hendo."

"Philips had a better chance of going to the Euros sitting on City‚Äôs bench than he did playing for West Ham. And I said the before he kicked a ball for us. I‚Äôm more concerned about Bowen getting picked. He deserves it, but Southgate is a cսnt. I can see Cole Palmer and Mainoo getting picked over Bowen."

"I bloody hope not but you never know. The way he has playing for City, when asked, John Stones would be a far better pick. A midfield three of him, Rice and Bellingham would work a treat with Foden, Kane and Saka further forward. Unfortunately Stones will be required to babysit and cover Harry Maguire's mistakes at CB."

Does he have enough time to convince us he has the qualities? Not a £40m player. And with Jwp struggling it’s another issue in the summer

Said previously that if Phillips had stayed sat on his arse at City he was a certainty. By going on loan and letting people see him play he has probably put that in jeopardy Reckon Southgate will still pick him .... and Henderson & Maguire He has some international games soon i believe to look at alternatives to them but doubt he will

"Guaranteed that Southgate will not only pick Phillips, but both Henderson and Maguire are certainties also. Foden may get 20 minutes at the end of the second group game. Then of course there’s Pickford, always trying to show how far he can kick a ball."

"Pep absolutely destroyed him. It’ll take him some time to get back to his form, there is no doubt that there is a footballer in there, kid needs games and time to get back up to speed, probably some confidence too. However based on what he has shown since signing for us I wouldn’t pick him unless he can pick it up in the next 2 months."

If he does pick him I am hoping he sees that he doesn’t thrive in a shitty backs to the wall formation that he (Southgate) can undertake should we take the lead in a big game. That the only chance you’ll get to see a Phillips that resembles the one seen at Leeds is to play on the front foot…..take note waistcoat…..
